sorta disagree with that take although not, like, a lot? like, obviously it would be stupid to model autistic-ness as a line where every single trait corresponds to every single other trait, but I do also think that there can in some cases be a sense in which one person is more affected by being autistic than another person, and I don’t really think it’s helping anyone to pretend otherwise? obviously that’s not necessarily going to be directly associated with being quote “worse off” unquote although sometimes it will be, I would probably be strictly better off with more ability to exist in the general vicinity of loud noises. and separately there’s an extent to which different axes are likely to be correlated?
and you can say that some of that is societal, like, Arete-who’s-never-taught-to-make-eye-contact makes approximately zero eye contact whereas actual-Arete makes more than zero, but I don’t think it’s all societal

and i agree with some of that, but i think that the point is that if we model the spectrum as a line that essentially proves that the ableists are correct. they can still support their cursed eugenics even if i choose to serve as a living example of the advantages of the spectrum, because then they can position me as “one of the less autistic ones” and continue to shit on the lives of anybody who is vaguely nonverbal
