or really anything with Hexproof
now all they can do is attack the mutations rather than the body, preventing them from getting 2-for-1ed
i also think putting them on a Theros Beyond Death god would also be a sensible idea

Does mutating a creature count as a creature entering the battlefield tho

I think based on my experience of cards in standard the strongest Mutate target is definitely Paradise Druid, since it grants its’ hexproof nature to the body, and it also ramps you. Which means that Green is probably going to benefit hugely from this set.

no i don’t think it does
but most of the mutate cards we’ve seen so far have ETBs that will trigger again if they are mutated later on
which sounds like value city

oh wait you want to Hushbringer it don’t you

@Hippolytus rate this card for Jeskai Fires
I think it MIGHT somehow be good in a new Mutate-y version of Fires that features more CMC 3 creatures
but i’m not certain
really this expansion weirdly has a lot riding on how good its’ 3-drops are

maybe this card will beocme a staple of Fires post-rotation? because like, most Fires decks currently have that space in their deck taken up by the 4-drop Sphynx Of Foresight, cutting out the possibility for including 3-drops to play pre-fires and pre-cavaliers. but after that and the Cavaliers have gone the deck will probably change a lot to the point where Vadrok might be good

can’t wait for Mutate Fires to become a thing post-Teferipocalypse

other than in Fires I weirdly don’t see a spot for Vadrok?

like its’ mutate cost seems really finicky to hit unless you’re running Fires, but so far we haven’t seen many Mutate cards or 3-drops with mana-sinks like FlameCav or Kenrith, or many 3-drops like that either

@Hippolytus

i forgot about this one
fucking Singleton decks in standard
what a time to be alive

i’m not certain having four 3 CMC “Double a spell then summon a 3/2” cards available to cast from your ?sideboard? (that seems to be how Companion works) is good but i mean
you have to try, right?

also i respect the hell out of those madlads who will inevitably try to make having multiple companions work
shine on you beautiful morons

oh
nobody’s fwends with me any more

anyway so
somebody just really felt like flexing on Nightmare Shepherd huh

this is literally just Nightmare Shepherd but better
oh no i dropped 1 power and the ability to use this with flying creatures to get a version of the ability that doesn’t make those creatures 1/1s and doesn’t purge them from the graveyard

and let’s be honest
i’ve never seen a Nightmare Shepherd deck play many flyers other than the Shepherds

finally on the agenda

the best article name ever

actually scratch that this is one of the funniest articles i’ve ever read
in the midst of a global pandemic a card game company must apologise for SPACE GODZILLA sharing a weapon name with the prefix of the deadly virus, and must release an article apologising for the insensitivity of SPACE GODZILLA

what
