Maybe its becouse we have minds highly adjusted to cause-effect thinkihng.
And in cooking you need to go through certain process.

We also are a bit lazy and search for optimization of all processes, what guarantees that we search for new solutions, making want us to experiment sometimes, trying to find best outcome.

But yeah, as far as I know, pretty much all programmers are at least okay, if not better in cooking.
