Because in FM land everything takes place within a single hypotheticla day in which everybody is theoretically awake at all times. You’re exploiting the fact that FM is not the thing it simulates by doing that, and detracting from part of the fun of the game.

Case and point. Was trying to find a way to say that forum mafia is supposed to simulate say a throne of lies game where everyone is active and using times when someone is/isn’t active to scumread them based on a bleed time

Also, if the host is having conversations with the player, don’t go and read the host to see if they’re talking to them like that person is a villager or a wolf.

Why are we worrying about loopholes so much? The rules should be for the normal cases, and as information for the normal players.
Also I don’t know which kinds of loopholes you are worrying about. In the cases where it matters, it’s blatant cheating, and you call call out the player for that.

The other problem is that we could end up in a toxic scenario where this meta based around bleed deception is not adequately explained to a newbie we could end up with newbies getting caught out and bleeding as soon as they come on, or worse, having that fact exploited and leading to wolves singling out newbie villagers to make them get unfairly mislynched

Angleshooting is defined as doing things, or applying rules, in ways they weren’t intended in order to gain an advantage in a game. In mafia, a common example of this is using OGI (out of game information) to exert public pressure or influence on the game, to publicly give reads based on OGI, or in more extreme cases, to use information acquired through illegitimate means to covertly influence a game. Angleshooting also covers all intentional uses of any flaws/quirks in the forum software / modbot in order to subvert the spirit of the game.

This definition is purposefully non-specific, because angleshooting is more of a general idea than a specific case. Generally speaking, you know it when you see it, and it can run the gamut from relatively innocent/harmless to malicious and blatant cheating.

A good rule of thumb is if you’re attempting to push a game in a particular direction, and your reasons for doing so are not based on what’s directly happened in the game, or meta, you’re in the danger zone.

Mafia Universe is firmly against angleshooting. If you are unsure if a particular action/read is angleshooting or not, (privately) ask the game host and/or a moderator. If you encounter something in a game that you believe to be angleshooting, report the post and inform the game host, and the moderators and game host will take a look at it.

So Angleshooting is essentially a cover-up rule in which if the hosts fail to do their job and specify the rules correctly they have an uno reverse card called ‘angleshooting’ that gets people punished.

Yes it is within the spirit of the game as I have managed to develop a strategy custom to that setup.
Tell me why strategy that is created should be banned and against the rules.
It shouldn’t. If anybody has a problem with it then they enact another rule.

The host should pre-determine how the game should be played at the start of the setup, not midway.
