Announcement: Updated Policy on Replacements

the activity requirements should be made clear in the OP of the game

obviously there’s some amount of reasonable-ness that’s going to be applied, like, if someone zeroposts for two game days we’re not going to say ‘but the OP doesn’t make it clear that that’s a justification for a forced replacement so you can’t sub them out’

fair
i assume the appeal process can handle these sorts of matters

If it is clear that someone didn’t replace out on purpose
and you still get blacklisted and you have to appeal
that only adds additional stress to the person who had to replace out, and creates a false pressure to stay in games, even when you really should replace out, just to not get this mark on your record

if you’re really concerned you can come talk to me right after replacing out, to preemptively explain the circumstances

yeah if someone is really not enjoying a game but can’t replace out or they get signup banned, it could lead to someone staying in a game they do not want to play or enjoy

also how are force-replaces handled

This shouldn’t be put on record fyi
This should be like if you leave a game midway in League or CS:GO you get like a 30m ban and it can’t progress any higher unless it’s done like, multiple multiple times

Like Aretes not a monster they will hear ya out.

If I understood Arete correctly, it will stay on your record as blacklist (appealed)

force replacements would typically depend on whether the player who was force-replaced was “at fault” for the replacement

for instance if they get force replaced due to a game integrity issue that was the host’s fault, or another player’s fault, that wouldn’t count against them

if they get force-replaced because on D1 the only thing they posted was ‘hi’ and ‘wow there are a lot of posts’ and D2 they zeroposted, that would count against them

If integrity is their fault though?

to avoid potential issues you should probably contact me after the game if that’s what happened :upside_down_face:

I feel like most of the cases where an integrity issue is the player’s fault are, like, cheating

which is already a blacklistable offense

it can be
but it can also be the host’s fault

wow there are a lot of posts

I would be a fan of a similar policy being created for hosts when it comes to canned games

We can work on that

There are more changes coming up. We are trying to make things as transparent as possible

canned games are almost never the host’s fault

maybe either it didn’t get enough signups, game integrity issue, too much inactivity, etc.

If a host can’t play usually it just goes to cohost to finish the game.

this extremely appreciated
ya know how much i hate ambiguity

canned games + other circumstances that might warrant a hosting blacklist are rare enough that we’re currently handling them on a case-by-case basis
