Announcement: Updated Policy on Replacements

Like obvs if you have any good reason or your irl circumstances change you should duh be allowed to replace out but imo you should never be allowed to as a result of something happening in game apart from in extreme circumstances where someones been abusive or something.

I think it is fair to be ā€˜Greylistedā€™ fir future sign ups until the game you replaced out of ends (within reason)

Yeah I think I have replaced out once and it was due to classes suddenly changing when three projects were due in a succession. Other than that I have played all those shitty scum games to completion

Legit question

Does anyone have any memory of me replacing out of anything ever

not to my faulty memory

:man_shrugging: u played a lot more before i joined, in games since I joined at the end of 18 no

When I inevitably compile a list of my games I can see but I might not have replaced out of anything?

I think ic replaced out of like 2 games one here and one on MU because Irl said fuck you and I didnā€™t have time to play and I felt bad

A big issue Iā€™ve seen is so many potential players sign up as spectators, so a lot of potential replacements are gone

Just let them be uninformes specs.

But they can contaminate each other in a spectator chat

Still less worse than an informed specchat.

I mean, if someone says that X is probably scum in spectator chat, then replaces in and says X is acting towny.
What stops another spectator replacing in next and calling the first replacement out as scum just because of that?

Thereā€™s a lot of angleshooting potential.

I donā€™t think people wanting to spectate is problematic though.

Or players can just follow along and if they want, talk to the host

Then limit the sub from specchat to only one.
That way, whether the specchat is contaminated or not, it wonā€™t affect the game too much in the end.

ā€¦? What does this have to do with replacements?

It allows a bigger pool of players

I donā€™t get what you are trying to say.

uninformed specs being able to sub into the game causes nightmarish angleshooting scenarios due to having the depth of your own and othersā€™ analysis that is not a part of the actual game

we learned this the hard way with geyde in sfol 58.

I mean, one of the main reasons I (as a frequent spectator) sign up to spectate is the fact that I get to solve the game at a relaxed pace together with people.
We can theorize without having to actually play ā€“ and I find that entertaining.
If spectating was disallowed I would probably follow interesting setups that I donā€™t feel comfortable with playing a little bit less.
