Atheist means that ST is the only evil, and obviously that’s bad because it lets them cheat.
They get to simulate plenty of evils, even minions and they get to see all roles naturally because they manage the grimoire

Even ignoring Kickstarter characters there exist situations where it can be useful in every edition

You can do it in TB if you want to exceed or tie the votes to block an execution but don’t want to execute a living player (in my first ever evil game, I lost to a Mayor after Good managed to exactly tie the lead wagon by lynching a corpse although the lead wagon was me)

You can do it in BMR because Zombuul (a Demon which registers as dead, but does not actually die, the first time it is executed) is a thing

You can do it in S&V most obviously if you don’t want to insta-lose to Vortox, but also don’t want to kill anyone in specific
