merlin knows all bads but mordred, but if good wins, first evil then gets one last chance to guess who merlin is: if they guess right, evil wins instead
resistance has a lotta custom roles in the scripted tts version.
one of which is the chief setup in which:
there is a good chief, which knows all the evils (there is a special evil that is undetectable to this one that is optional)
optionally, there is the false chief (evil) and the butler (good). the butler knows who the chief and false chief are, but not which is which
theres also the witness, a good player whose mission vote (aka pass/fail) isnt chosen by themselves. however, they choose another player, and vote whatever they voted
We tried playing with one of the Lancelot variants at least once (we didn’t have the expansion but we looked up the rules and someone wrote GOOD LANCELOT and EVIL LANCELOT on one of the cards) but it wasn’t super popular
but like I’m 99% sure you can get a Resistance expansion that just makes it Avalon, but you can also play without that for normal Resistance or with other expansions, so it’s much more modular and so probably just a straight upgrade

Alternatively you can ignore the rolecards and just play Avalon like base Resistance.
For me it’s just different flavor for the same kind of game.
