Cancer Mitigation

Hey folx. I’m one of those Good Samaritan players who reports people for ToS violations every time I see it, so the mods know who’s doing what. That being said, while consistently reporting violations since purchasing the game ~6m ago, I don’t think I’ve made literally one ounce of impact on the toxicity content in the community. It has even recently increased dramatically (since the last patch prior to today’s; I have no idea if it’s related or coincidental).

Cancer is gonna eventually permeate every pubg gaming setting, it’s just the way of the world, but today I saw a new low: pedophilia spam. Like whooooaaa bois. Granted I can’t make it through a single game this week without reading some seriously disturbing shit, and it is what it is and generally I report the stuff that needs reporting and carry on. But: toxic meme culture can absolutely go too far. Pedo spam is not just not okay; stuff like that gets people imprisoned. And more than that, I just don’t wanna read that sick shit

So this is a plea to the players first and the mods second to step up our game on the Reports, the suspensions, the bans, and the wrist-slaps, both from mods and from our fellow players (e.g. “Dude that’s really not okay. Please stop bro”).

Please consider devoting some resources to improving the Report function so that it lightens the work load on man hours and increases its effectiveness (in allowing us to improve our community by identifying and removing toxic elements)

And if you’re already opening a reply box to tell me to toughen up and get over it, I’mma ask you to please redirect those salty keystrokes into a suggestion re: what WE can do as players to help fix it. For real, what could we be doing?

I love this game, for srs. Just not lovin cancerous community lately. Plz send halp. :frowning:

I do not have any direct access to any of that information, but what i can do is link to what has been said already

Dryder was a forum sitcom situation. While I appreciate that mods acted on the right side the dispute, I’m not convinced that it’s a baseline example of what NORMALLY happens :frowning:

It’s gotten to the point where it’s not even just text based cancer People will blatantly state they bus people constantly and still don’t get banned. Or teamers that ruin games. Or meme executions for no reason. Every game has at least one person that I feel like I need to report for something. And yet it feels like there is zero impact.

Edit: Can we finally beef up the report system a bit? Please?

it feel like zero impact because of the sheer number of these people.

DO NOT WORRY. THE MODS HAVE THE HAMMERS>
THEY ARE SWINGING THEM.

I think there should be an automatic suspension system based on a certain number of reports or something that flag a player more than just “oh this person got a report.” Something to get actively CURRENT toxic people out of CURRENT games. Instead of having them get reports from the entire lobby and going on to be cancerous in the next 5 games they play.

There is one in place , if i’m not mistaken , but a manual report system is used to ensure that no one gets struck for no/unfair reason(s).

I think one of the main issues is people blowing behavior out off proportion and labeling everything they don’t like as ‘toxic’ (which IMO is a stupid buzzword). I personally enjoy putting on a bit of bravado in games, sometimes it goes down really well and sometimes I get insulted repeatedly and called toxic. In a game like ToL, bravado and personality is IMPORTANT to stop games going stale. If we start going crazy on stamping out any outlandish or aggressive styles of play, this game is gonna get incredibly robotic. It’s not good for anyone.

With this in mind, you do wonder how many reports flood the devs eyes that are perfectly innocent chat logs. Perhaps if we started with smaller ambitions (i.e: our main goal should be to report all spam/griefing until that is near eradicated), we could progress to cleaning up some of the more blurred lines in what constitutes acceptable behavior.

Bussing isn’t cancerous, it’s a legit tactic

Whatever label you wanna give it, nasty shit spamming day chat is just that. I’m not arguing against bravado or RP or anything of that sort; I appreciate it and agree it’s a critical element to gameplay.
But things that legitimately upset people to read, like continuous lines of expletives, hate speech, or really REALLY nasty shit like pedo spam – that’s not creative, that’s not bravado, that’s not anything good :frowning: If someone is RPing, they don’t need to resort to those extremes.

All of that is kinda irrelevent tho tbh and really just based on what you as a player think “toxicity” represents or w/e. It’s prolly a little different for each of us.

All I know is: when some bro with a complex comes into a game and starts spamming toxic crap, it subtracts 2-3 days of gameplay to deal with and usually causes a BD loss because of the mass confusion and chaos.

RANT WARNING:
Even if I didn’t give a shit about the words they were saying, I really wish these emergent tumors would stop dicking up everyones gameplay with their compulsive need for negative attention.

But bussing is on the ToS as a bannable offense. So yes, it is cancerous.

Then the Terms of Service directly contradict the past rulings of the staff.

Just saying.

Yes, the rules specifically state that bussing is not allowed, unless it is.

Which basically means go ahead, just don’t do it to be a dick. Easy.

Or you can throw them under the bus if your teammates are okay with it and you have a plan you can use by bussing them (i.e. seeming like you are BD, or making room for another convert)

Clearly bussing is a hot topic, but that’s just a tiny occasional slice of the shit pie. As I see it, if the person you’re bussing doesn’t know you’re about to do it, that’s a no-no. If they do… well, that’s between you two.

But as per the OT: I guess as lame as it sounds, I’m asking y’all as other players to snipe throwers and trolls real-time in games. Let’s please make it an organized effort/meme/meta to kill off toxicfuks/meme accusers/trolls n1-2??

When you get a player in game who’s just throwing around and meme accusing and giving bad info, its either a basic 2iq Fool play, or a legit thrower. Either one can cause a loss for BD, which is why Fool has the win conditions it does – we are intended to exe that shit.

No, just report them and move on.

If you do something like ruining the game for them, most likely you will effect the others, too.

Of course, you can execute them. But if you met them again the next game and they did not troll/throw,

Do not snipe them.

What if someone are friends and they gang upon on you?

The mod are review the report manually, so they didn’t misban on you.

We review all reports manually, yep – and often by even more than one person. We’ll know. We also store report history, so we find the troll reporters fast and THEY get punished.

However, if you snipe a troll, you’ll BOTH get in trouble. Don’t forget there are other people in the game beside you + the troll.
