The real boss was the friends we made along the way
fair enough
I can say this from the bottom of my heart, after hosting two of these, these games are bad to host. Most of the time theyāre unfun and stressful to host
yeah thatās fair
The only reason this game was salvageable was because me and Marshal have hosted these type of games before.
just be prepared to have infinite wim and ~no IRL to do it.
Dont overcomplicate game, the more complicated it is the harder it is to keep track of everything and most stressful
at least its better than dr as a game format
I was considering if I ever host a misc game, Iād probably go for something more akin to a board/card game because itās turn-based which makes action processing a bit more straightforward and also involves a more concrete rule set
Wazz and I both had mainhosting experience so it was about as good a transfer as it could be and it still kinda sucked, because you canāt just say āno i want to do something elseā when a player subs an action, you kinda just gotta do it.
If you have an idea you love and the wim to host it by all means go ahead, it is rewarding in the end, but its also a huge huge commitment. I suggest smaller game sizes. Like 11-13 game sizes. Especially if youāre just starting out
yeah fair enough
i probably wont host it at all during the school season
i think the shift towards āthese types of miscs are only available half of the day, half of the weekā is a v good
MY PREDICTION WAS RIGHT LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO
this interaction took roughly 42 minutes for me to stumble upon a boss through purely making stupid assumptions that were obviously false
rapid pro-wincon development
Things I suggest to all new misc hosts
- Simple game. Fun premise > complicated mechanics. The player interactions will carry the game itself, be able to be avaliable to host what you have. Also helps cohosts not have an issue if the mechanics arenāt overcomplciated. Ill be real i had like no idea wtf grimiores were or the LoH was until a lot later in the game, i dont have headspace for all of that.
- Small game. When 8 players sub actions at once and it takes 5 minutes to process them, thats a 40 minute wait period. You canāt really avoid this but it can be helped
- TIGHT processing period to give you an IRL. You have to always be attentative to these types of games so making like 4 or 5ish hours per day the only amount that will be processed will help a ton.
- Cohosts. Iād have commited self-castle-desolation if not for wazza lol. Just someone to help out even on the small things helps a ton ton ton.
My final suggestion is:
Ignore all of this and just dont do it at all
thanks for listening
roles that canāt one shot the final boss requiring you to make nerfs and still have them deal 80% of the final bosses hp in one hit
The single most important bit to take note of honestly
i finally won one of these
Me too
also it was confirmed that nobody even knew where my trident spellbook was and it was going to be chucked somewhere if I made it long enough
