Castle Desolation - Apprentice, WindwardAway, Italy, Nightingale and Gorta are victorious!

Personally I think of all alliances as a preliminary thing and take them with a grain of salt. There’s absolutely no reason why someone shouldn’t or won’t backstab to achieve their wincon, and I think that’s perfectly fine. I had no backstabbing to do here since my wincon depended on the sovereign, but for others I would’ve understood if they decided to betray me or something.

People don’t treat alliances lightly though

They literally put them above winning which is the problem

Well tbf I did that in the endgame here but I also felt a bit like a jerk for somehow completing my wincon without doing anything at all the first half of the game

I also had no reason to see everyone else lose, since they all needed stuff from the Moloch

And their claimed wincons didn’t conflict with mine unless I somehow died in the boss fight

People don’t have the same mindset as you.

It’s why after the Zone/Marshal/PKR bullshit in DR3 that I stopped playing miscs.

If the game’s just going to be Survivor bullshit then there really isn’t a reason to play it.

Btw fun fact, literally all of my attacks in this game missed except for one on the rock golem and one that killed Arctic lol.

Hippo knew the existence of an evil and didn’t put them up for execution because he thought they could help them. When I asked what he thought Marl could help him with, he said “killing people”. Yet if he completed his wincon there and then by executing Marl, all he’d need to do would be get crystals to escape. He couldn’t even explain why he would need Marl to kill people for him, especially when he can just hide in his chambers.

Zone made the mistake of not killing PKR because he wrongfully assumed that other BoDs would show up. This isn’t how you play the game. You take the first opportunity to achieve your wincondition.

Hard to enforce, tbfh.

The line between suboptimal play and gamethrowing is extremely blurry.

Yeah zone was pretty disappointed when he realized the Moloch was not a BoD lmao

idk if its comparable to survivor since in survivor you’re forced to betray alliances later in game or lose.

The only person who actively betrays their allies here is App.

Everyone else basically plays this like a naive Idiot Hero anime protagonist where “TRUST IN MY NAKAMA ABOVE ALL!” is the ruling mindset.

I ratted people out to each other in Death city iirc

But that’s because I was a neut and also needed to get executed, so the best thing I could do was cause discord by allying with everyone and then betraying them

I went boom though

Imagine trusting App.

Also realized there was a higher risk that someone would just murder me instead for doing that so I did tell some people my wincon

Trusting App enough for an early information exchange is good imo

Letting him get away with betrayal is another matter

And I guess the only game I played with App where I chose to betray the alliance was the one in which he was good aligned and I was just mega paranoid

App just keeps winning those, doesn’t he?
Here he just straight up won super early, while everyone else had to trudge through the game until endgame.

Because App basically knows how to play the alliance game and when to betray people, tbfh.

He just gathers intel super early so he has all the choice in the world of what to do with his knowledge, which imo is how games should be played
