This logic is flawed. He was NOT dead. Had I not voted an RNG coin flip would have decided who dies. If I were scum, why would I wait so long to vote, throw away a 50% chance of scum surviving, and even vote at all? In terms of averting suspicion would have been far better a few hours before, after the deadlock was affirmed but before the end. The best policy as scum would have been to abstain there, unquestionably. The honest truth is voting in the last 20 seconds was because it took me that long to decide and I was more comfortable leaving things in my own hands than in the goddess of luckās. Throwing away 50% odds of scum surviving and guaranteeing a 1v6 situation for the rest of the game is indefensible, for me most of all as someone on a complete losing streak since joining the site that is especially weak as scum. I would never cast the decisive vote to damn a known teammate.
