I think the fact thereās too many good games right now makes it too hard for me not to in to those sort of games, thatās the thing.
Ah, I found it the complete opposite, when I played as my alts in FoL and BotF, I just found it stressful and annoying. But then again, I prefer being myself.
But really
Meta is at best a supplement for most players (with a few notable exceptions)
Alts have good uses
Donāt want to be killed n1 all the time? alt
Want to get out of a meta/try a new playstyle? alt
Some people are alice and donāt want to be alice because that means you just always die n1
I played as frankie to actually try and be serious without people going

I could always try doing that on my main but part of the magic is gone because people would still know itās me
meta can combat pushing LHFs and often give clears to people with super obvious metas
but for like people of medium to high skill with no discernable difference in metas meta is just a machine that can be cherrypicked regardless of who uses it and is, like N said, super prone to bias.
meta isnāt inherently bad but itās vastly overused
like a lot of people are like āoh Aitim is acting like he acted last time he was town, so heās town this gameā or āoh Isel is acting differently from how she acted last time she was town, she must be scumā when really the things theyāre trying to meta-read Aitim and Isel on are basically NAI
but it does have some use because (a) certain very-meta-able players exist and (b) you can sometimes use it to pick up on specific things as being NAI (e.g. āArete can wallpost as either alignment, donāt put them in the towncore for that,ā āCRichard is always OMGUSy so the fact that heās OMGUSing doesnāt mean heās scum (but doesnāt make him town either)ā)
Thereās two problems with meta on this site. One is overreliance as mentioned.
The other is justification for being bad/lazy/useless. āYou canāt expect me to act townie/hunt for scum/contribute - itās my metaā.

But meta-based gutreads are always omega levels of garbage

when people of my alignment (or the other alignment) donāt try itā¦ pisses me off
but thereās not much we can do if someone always hits post cap and makes posts but never really tries as either alignment
they havenāt broken any rules even if they make the game experience less enjoyable for others

This thread is entitled āThe initiative to improve town play on this siteā - one way is stop accepting, and individuals themselves, that certain players are allowed to be useless. You can have horrible reads, town read all the scum and tunnel obvious townies and youād still be better than some players.
