It’d upset a lot of people but I’m of the view that replacing Alch with a different “survive” neut (hopefully one that doesn’t entirely outclass someone from the BD) is the only option that would be any good for the game.
Hell no
I genuinely appreciate that you are willing to cut content when it isn’t working. I wish the competition were half as willing as you to do the same. It’s one of my largest issues with ToS and CC.
I mean tbh what would alch be if you made him less healing and more stabby stabby.
it was still a class, one that offered an unusual experience as a silent and untargetable killer. My point is that you guys tend towards ripping things out and replacing them, rather than adding new content. Sometimes not even replacing them.
Meanwhile, ToL has fewer villain factions, fewer neutral villains, and more static classes than ToS, it is overall a game with less variety and more repetition. I read the thing about classes doing more but regardless, i still believe that what ToL needs is simply more content. More of everything
Anyways we’re going in circles. In summary, I am heavily in favor of adding chronomancer as a new class, but strongly against it replacing any existing class.
No need for more stabby-stabby, just less healing probably
idk though
To fix alchemist i’d do what they just did - reduce his stoneskin charges. He’s probably fine now
Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad if Phys’ spawn rate was dropped and Assassin and CL’s Bleed/Poison decreased by 1 or 2, depending on win rates?
because I can also testify where I’ve gotten Physician 4-5 times in a row on a couple Saturdays
Less stoneskins makes literally zero difference to the main issues behind Alchemist. It still completely outclasses Physician in almost every way.
Neutrals with the goal to survive should not be more useful than classes in the BD.
another idea to make Phys a bit more fun could be that the strength of Exhume is increased a bit by combining Sheriff and Paladin into just Sheriff, maybe making Paladin a separate class, and the Poison/Bleed mechanics into 1, so that it can’t be determined from the early game whether you’re facing Unseen or Cult
would also increase scum win rates (maybe)
Oh. And if alchemist is still a problem this patch then we could try making crimson potion limited (5 uses maybe?)
3 or 4 would be enough I could also say; would make alch inclined to save their crimson potions if they want to go BD-aligned
Unusual? Yes. Good for the game? No. Death Knight was fundamentally flawed in requiring a dead player to take actions that affect the outcome of the game, a type of feature that was entirely removed because players can just leave and now you’ve gotten nowhere. Even if you ignore this, although DK may technically work if brought back in an entirely seperate and new class, giving any sort of revival to a class with other abilities always ends up being way too powerful. Both Priest and Physician were just plain overpowered with their revives, and it’s good that it was scrapped.
I stand by what I said before - this is a move that takes guts, but is one that can be necessary for the health of the game. It’s way more aggrivating to be dealing with ToS’s Spy for literal years than it will ever be to miss an old class or ability that simply didn’t work.
2=2 (unless you count Vampires which are hopelessly outclassed and just bad)
This I can sort of agree with, although that isn’t even necessarily true if you look at neutral villians that aren’t garbage. ToS has SK and maybe Juggernaut, as WW and Arso are both inconsistent and finnicky at best. ToL has Reaper and Possessor, both of which are more interesting and more dynamic than any ToS NK, and if Inquisitor is removed Sorceror could easily be added to this list. As for non-killing evil Neutrals, it’s literally 1 to 1. Witch and Sellsword are as equivalent as you’ll see from entirely different classes, and even if you include the incorrectly classified Jester and Executioner (which should both be Neutral Benign), ToL still has the Fool and Scorned.
This I can agree with. Luckily, ToL pushes out updates at least once a month, which is far more often than its competition.
Finally, more roles does not automatically make a game better. Just look at Camp Cadaver - I’d argue that the massive role variety dilutes the gameplay experience, and relying on more roles rather than better roles leads to some that are hopelessly imbalanced, and often even behind ToS (look at modern Spy and CC’s Gossip, for example).
and ToL had Mercenary, the old version, before ToS had Guardian Angel
And Pirate is just a strange chaotic being
ToL is way more organized and each of their classes has a niche unlike ToS
Priate just… just no
You mean rock paper scissors?
Lol I pushed that out of my mind
RNG killer doesn’t count as good, so that’s a no
I mean 1 thing can be deduced from the poll; majority of people don’t have anything against Physician, it’s just from its commonness that people get tired of it every now and then
