So it is basiclly a coin flip on n1 if the target is jailed, reaper, or has a merc/knight guarding them.
Otherwise you win n1. I cant find the point of such class in the game.

You don’t know what number your target is.

Oh, that was not clear. If it is like that then it is better.

I kinda like the idea. What is the point of stand guard thought? And what happens if there is 2 people with the same class? Give it a weak investigate ability (for example: check for convertability) Also make his target never UNIQUE rather than never Royal.

In order to balance Neutral classes I think you need to give them an ability that makes them somewhat beneficial to both sides.

If they know there’s a hitman around he might be worth keeping because he can protect people.

Similar to the Alchemist.

Yes but he has no reason to. It goes against his wincon so why does he even have it. I find that the fact that he can target an unseen class or a neutral class to be a good enough reason for that.

Because if somebody else kills your target you don’t win.

If you know to protect them so they won’t die then you know to kill them yourself. Give him an invest/social ability or something that can help finding your target. And again what happens if there is more than one instance of your target. (Btw Execute needs to bypass healing Incase they are reaper.) Also Priest and fool should not be a target because they will just kill themselves before you can.

Considering it is perfectly possible to lose Night 1, the class is fine as is

Hmm.

  1. Is he ever contracted to Evil or Neutral classes?

  2. What if upon his first target’s death he opens a second envelope appointing him a secondary target? Like it would be “only open this upon failure of your first mission” kind of flavor. This would help those games where your target dies N1 and you lose through no fault of your own.

  1. Yes

  2. Yeah I was thinking something similar would be a good idea, but only if you haven’t used your execute ability yet

If it was to become a class, I’d hope the class name was changed. Nothing against the class or idea or anything. But hitman is a bit of an anachronism. I’m trying to think of what someone of this “trade” would be called in that setting. Other than mercenary, sellsword, or assassin since those are taken.

How about…Assassin?

Edit: Aw I didn’t read your last sentence and it ruined my joke

Yeah I agree, professional, legionnaire, soldier all come to mind.

Those are good. But I feel like mercanary describes your character the best. Honestly I feel like they should just take the current mercenary and add your idea to it. So the merc has somebody to guard and somebody to kill!

Assassino?

Yeah, I assume that would cause too much confusion.

But if it was possible, I feel like the current mercenary in the game feels more like a guard or bodyguard.

Digging into the thesaurus some better name for the current Merc would potentially be: Guard, Defender, Escort, Warden, Lookout, Guardian, Sentinel, Sentry
