Also I guess this technically overlaps with Noble lmao
Give Priest the night ability âMolestâ which blocks the person currently confessing.
I actually like this! - Interesting!
The concept is interesting but it seems similar to Psychic in ways.
Itâs a social class which is a niche category tbf
My only problem is Absolve. It isnât scary enough to make you want to talk to the Priest. Having a night ability which really screws over whoever is in confession means they will talk.
Make it super limited to like 2 uses so when you are in confession you never know if it can happen.
Ideas:
Excommunication - can never vote again (1 use)
Marked - player is marked and announced to all.
Atm players may not want to claim to priest as th3 te is nothing priest can rlly do if you donât.
Priest shouldnât be another Prince/Psychic with Confessions, ideally.
Like I get that itâll see some use to that effect, but it shouldnât see the Priest bully their confressors into claiming their name if they donât want to.
Absolve is just harmful enough to try and avoid, but also doesnât immediately expose scum that out themselves to the Priest the next day.
Like, whatâs the point of communicating sensitive info to Priest if youâre guarantreed to get lynched the next day?
Atm priest can do jack all if you say nothing which would be frustrating.
Well too bad - the counter to this is that if the Priest used their day ability to choose you to talk to, and you clam up, they can now push you during the day.
The danger of the ability should come from determining whether the Priest chose to hear specifically your confession or not, not from fear that the Priest will use some night ability to ruin your game if they donât like your claim.
Yeah the problem with Noble having this was exactly that - itâs not optimized for Confessions.
If you can sometimes choose who you speak with, they always have to be careful, just in case.
Weâll call that the Spy effect.
The Illusionist had Link Minds at some point. No one would ever reveal anything in Link Minds because of it. The Psychic even has Telepathy, so they could reveal you said nothing without revealing themselves. No one cared because you couldnât trust the Psychic.
And thatâs bad how?
The point here is to not be another Psychic/Prince.
Confessions has overall limited utility in general, but if you use your two targeted confessions tactically you could pull off some pretty good plays. It shouldnât be a âoh I better claim to this confirmed Townâ situation at all.
If youâre sometimes not anonymous, then people are always going to assume youâre not anonymous. Thatâs the problem with the Heretic also having it.
Just look at when the Noble & Aristocrat had it, no one would say anything to him, even though it was always anonymous. If the Unseen version has it, then people are never going to say anything useful, especially when they might not be anonymous.
Spy chat in ToS flashbacks.
If a chat system CAN be compromised, most players will assume that it has been, even if those chances are extremely low.
Exactly, and pretty much the point.
Itâs a fluff ability most of the time, all things considered, but that was kind of the point tbh
Either way, Priest deserves to be revived
Just thought of an interesting ability idea but it might be retarded in practice idk:
Night Ability: Exorcism (1 use)
Return a converted evil player to their original class
Issues would be that the exorcised player would know exactly who the scum are now back on BD, so maybe a change could be:
Change an evil player into a Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit would be converted to BD, and âdeadâ like the DK, but would have to not be able to communicate with any psychics so as to not immediately give away the other scum. The Holy Spirit could survive for like a couple days and have a protection or heal ability or something.
@jabba
That would completely break the game. So pls noâŚ
@orangeandblack5
I finally found your post, guess I havenât been visiting topics outside Feedback/suggestions enough
Iâm adding my take on Priest just to offer some alternatives on the same thread.
I do agree with Boslov that confessions should be 100% anonymous. My take on Priest gives him some ways to reward or punish good/bad confessions afterwards. (So that the Noble âLMAOâ hearsays wont occur)
Also, the Unseen variant of Priest makes it so that it is really risky to out yourself on a confession, because a turned variant can easily disable you the next day or even kill you. So the confession should be insightful for BD Priest, but anonymous (in case of possible converted priest).
Priest
(Unique social class. Magic user)
Passive
- Confessions: Each night, one random player can send messages to you at night. You wonât know who that other player is and cannot respond to those messages. (This is the old Nobleâs Hearsay passive)
Daytime abilities:
- Good Karma: The person that confessed to you last night becomes immune to death, occupy and conversion the next night. (1 use)
- Piousness: You are immune to conversion next night (2 uses)
Nighttime abilities
- Savior: If you die from an attack, you will be the only one to die from that attack. (unlimited uses)
- Repentance: The person confessing to you this night cannot talk, accuse or vote tomorrow. He can still be voted upon. (3 uses)
Dark Priest (Unseen)
(Unique social class. Magic user)
Passive
- Confessions: Each night, one random player can send messages to you at night. You wonât know who that other player is and cannot respond to those messages. (This is the old Nobleâs Hearsay passive)
Daytime abilities:
- Bad Karma: Target a player. If this is the player that confessed to you last night, he dies next night. (1 use)
Nighttime abilities
- Embrace the Void: Target player will leave an empty will (unlimited uses)
- Break Will: Target a player, if this is the player confessing to you this night, he cannot talk, accuse or vote tomorrow. He can still be voted upon. (2 uses)
I donât get how savior works. Explain please
It only affects attacks that can target multiple players. LIke Eradicate.
If one of the targeted players is a Priest that used the Savior ability that same night, the other player(s) wonât die.
