[Class suggestion] The Mimic

The Mimic
Neutral wildcard
Passive: Enduring
Immune to death once
Night ability: Copy
Kill your target and become their class if the attack is successful. They can’t be revived by priest. You can even become a unique class in this way.

Goal: Become a new class and win as that class.

Additional notes: you don’t keep the one time death immunity open switching.

Whenever I think about new classes I ask myself, “What about this class would make me want to play it/ what is unique gameplay wise?”
So for this class, lets say I jump into the body of a Butler… what is different/ unique to that game than if I had started off as a Butler? You would have the ability to chose who to jump into… but in the big picture that doesnt affect anyone else, just kills the person in that body and now a new player is playing that class.
My 2 cents towards the class would be maybe have him be a neutral killer that can take on the identity of different Blue Dragons and have some sneaky way of killing people.

thats called possessor

i thought that copy would be saved until late game, when, as neutral, he could insert himself with unseen, or bd, or another neutral

Also, I have a couple logistical questions:

  1. if you copy merc, do you take their current contract/lack of contract, or get a new one
if something else had caused someone(x)'s death at nigh, if x was not night immune, meaning that if the other thing had not caused their death, you still would, does copy still succeed.
  2. and the same question, but x is night immune, or rather if whatever else had caused x’s death, you would not have succeeded in killing x.

What is the point?

Please tell me what the point is to this class

Let’s say you kill a Butler and become a Butler

Literally nothing about the game state has changed, it’s exactly the same as if you were just playing a game with 1 less player, what is the point!?

because you would reserve that ability until late game hopefully

And still doesn’t affect the game. You might kill an Assassin and replace him, but then you will be the Assassin and both sides will have one less Neutral and that’s it.

or you could kill a neutral and cause someone else to win by you siding with someone else
or, the point could be that you have much more of a choice as to your role

so it’s like you were that class originally and the game started with one less player

not necessarrily
because you could have been killed before then if you were that role, because of how you would have talked, what information you gave, and what you did would probably be a bit different than the other person

so it’s like you were that class originally and the game started with one less player BUT with the added “bonus” that you didn’t do any actions for the first night or so

this class is pointless

Other than itself and the class it kills, it doesn’t affect the game whatsoever.

you take their current contract. If they are on their second, you cannot offer to anyone else.

If you attack them and they die you take their class. If they don’t die, you don’t.
The only time when they die and you don’t take it is if jailed by prince.

it has as much point as the squire you suggested.

It adds more claim space; you could claim as the assassin to have killed someone else who died that was a BD. If they were prince, you can convincingly make people think you are prince as not prince.

  1. The Squire helps BD, this neither helps or hinders anyone
  2. The Squire can be useful due to its passive
  3. The Squire does not take a player out of the game for no reason
  4. The Squire is not a Neutral Class
  5. Have you really resorted to calling out other people’s classes instead of making actual arguments? That’s petty

you could also just claim BD without needing to mention you were a mimic

  1. People will ask you who you jailed and eventually someone will call bullshit
  2. The Prince may have been killed by a different mimic who immediately kills you
  3. Physician can call you out easily

It causes super fun for every one

You have the threat of the mimic to not out yourself as prince, you have the part where they tracked down the last assassin but OH NO the mimic took it simultaneously!

Is the fool dead, or did mimic take it…?

Making a new class isn’t just about “super fun”

it has to add something meaningful

It does. It adds fun.

but serious now, it adds a new layer of claims.
