[Class Suggestion] The Philanderer, an uncomfirmable Blue Dragon Social!

“You took me for a useless pretty face. You underestimated me. Because, you see, I’ve pieced everything together. I know who the traitors are…”

The Philanderer

Blue Dragon Social
Wandering Eyes (Passive) - At the start of every night, you will be given a list of colour-coded players and their social actions during that Day. You retain this passive if you are converted or become the King.
Overt Intimation (Day) - Approach a player and mark them with a perfume that lasts until dawn. You will know if any marked players visit you or the target you Spent The Night with. - 5 uses.
Rise Early (Day) - Tonight, you will awake sooner than usual and know if the person you Spent The Night with spoke to someone at night. - 2 uses.
Spend The Night (Night) - You will stay with a target all night. If they used a night-time ability, you will know if it was used successfully or not. - Infinite uses.
Defeat the Unseen or Cult and any neutrals that seek to do you harm.

The Ruffian

Unseen Social
Wandering Eyes (Passive) - At the start of every night, you will be given a list of colour-coded players and their social actions during that Day. You retain this passive if you become the Assassin or the Mastermind.
Whisper In Their Ear (Day) - While this ability is toggled on, your whispers will be hidden from the public. - Infinite uses.
Sinister Intimation (Day) - Approach a player and mark them with a special perfume known to both you and the assassin. If a marked player visits the same target as your assassin tonight, the marked player will be attacked as well. - 2 uses.
Spend The Night (Night) - You will stay with a target all night, learn the exact result of any night abilities they use and whether they spoke to someone during the night. - Infinite uses.
Defeat the Blue Dragon and any neutrals that seek to do you harm.

Notes:

This is how Wandering Eyes gives you information:

The following players talked, accused and did not abstain: [List of names]. (Colourless).
The following players talked, accused and abstained: [List of Names]. (Blue).
The following players talked, did not accuse and did not abstain: [List of Names]. (Green).
The following players talked, did not accuse and abstained: [List of Names]. (Gray).
The following players did not talk, accused and did not abstain: [List of Names]. (Orange).
The following players did not talk, accused and abstained: [List of Names]. (Yellow).
The following players did not talk, did not accuse and did not abstain: [List of Names]. (Red).
The following players did not talk, did not accuse and abstained: [List of Names]. (White).

If there is no trial that day, the lists will be White and Gray.

  1. Converts into the Apostle for the Cult.
  2. Neither the Philanderer nor the Ruffian count as Magic Users.
  3. “Spoke to someone at night” is not just the Unseen/Cult nightly group chat, but it also covers the Prince, the Mystic if they use Link or Conduit, the Mystic’s Link target, and any two players the Mystic used Conduit on. This ability is affected by Frame as well. It will return positive regardless of whether target spoke at night or not. The ability would theoretically also apply to the Prince’s jailed target, but Spend The Night will be prevented if it targets a jailed player.
  4. “Spoke to someone at night” will yield positive even if the target remains silent all night. The ability checks whether they have the possibility of speaking, not whether they actually spoke or not.
  5. Public whispers will count as talking for Wandering Eyes.
  6. Spend The Night returns either “Your target’s night ability was successful” or no feedback at all.
  7. If the target is fooled into thinking their ability succeeded/failed, you will be fooled as well.

Hopefully I achieved my goal of a useful but unconfirmable BD Social class. Feedback is welcome!

A unconfirmed social.

Hey you have 10 seconds to write down the color of everything.

Good class tho

That’s admittedly something I hadn’t thought about, but if you ARE pretending to be Philanderer, you should be faking the Wandering Eyes results during the night, as they are all public info. If there is no trial that day, you know it’s going to be just White/Gray, which simplifies things a lot. But yeah, it’s definitely not a class you can claim out of the blue unless you have godlike memory or have been keeping track of public info.

Prob a good sfol class tho

It’s also good for Assassins and the other NKs! Anyone who just clicks an attack button without thought and can spend 40+ seconds checking day chat could fake this class decently.

A place where host have to keep track of vote count.

Lovely

You know this is just an investigative class with a pointlessly complicated yet somehow useless passive.

I mean the passive helps with is it a reaper game.

Also if someone doesn’t talk yet votes or someone didn’t vote up a person who flipped scum

Just read the chat yourself

What if we are lazy tho?

Admit it’s nice

The passive is purely Social. Spend the Night is a less useful Gossip, which is from a Social class. Abilities that rely on others speaking are more Social than Investigative (Maid Spy/Conduit). Knowing whether someone visited a target is more Investigative than Social, but classes are allowed to have the occasional off-role ability.

And yes, the passive doesn’t tell you anything you don’t already know and is easy to fake. But you’d be surprised how useful it is for improving people’s scumreading, especially if you keep track of the results throughout the days. I wouldn’t underestimate its usefulness.

An excellent idea, thanks!

would it be a little too far for possessor who possessed them

Well, the Possessor’s class is still Possessor, you don’t get passives that transfer like Royal Blood or the Phys/Alch passive that protects from poison/bleed.

NUUUUUUU

:sob:

Gossip can only be argued to be social because it is TECHNICALLY intersepting feedback.

However spend the night is not even that. Knowing if someone’s action succeeds is something that is not something known to the target by definition (as in the target knowing something being the reason for you being told).

For example compare Gossip to the following ability:

Night Ability - If target player is investigated by a sheriff you will learn if target player is Unseen or not.

9 times out of 10 this has the same effect as gossip being used on a sheriff target. However it is actually a bit more reliable than gossip. Consider what happens if the sheriff is mindwarped.

With gossip you are investigating no one. However you learn whatever the sheriff found (which in this case is false information).

However this other ability is identical to a second sheriff. This means mind warp and other abilitys used on the first sheriff don’t matter at all.

Your ability is like the second. It is dependent on reality rather than perseptions.

Simple terms for simple minded people

And if I added a clause that if the target believes the ability failed, so will you?
