@Pug some classes naturally have pets or can invoke familiars (Ranger, walorck, artificer, wizard)
and also some can become animals or invoke animals from nowhere

More unsolicited advice time
That’s insight.
Making a character that isn’t deadweight ≠ being a munchkin. It’s okay to build a character to the system and also RP them, ya know. That being said, having INT isn’t bad if the DM actually, ya know, uses knowledge checks (stares @ myself lmao).
I mean I asked if you guys wanted to roll for ours but you said pointbuy is fine :^)

Encumbrance rules*.
I’d advise modifying the limits in a rolled stats game if you planned to use encumbrance at all, but that’s just me.

Typically there’s no way to ‘lose’ D&D, though a TPK could be considered about as close as it gets.
“Your companion must be a beast of CR 1/4 or lower.” 
beast - The creature type.
CR - Challenge Rating: A measure of a creature’s average offensive and defensive abilities.

I didn’t say you couldn’t make a maximized character roleplayable. I just said that I put my points and select skills by character concept. First case had an interpretation adequated to the sheet, second is a sheet adequeated to interpretation.

I actually was thinking in making a quest in trade for a horse or getting a lent one until they had the money to buy one. I woudn’t really refrain them from “nah I’ll use point buy/generic stats instead because I can’t imagine my character with a 5 in smth” anyway. Rolling dice is calling for swing.
