okay so basically
normal poker is 5 card hands
texas holdem is 2 card hands, and 5 cards are placed on the table face down and then turned over by 3, then 1, then 1
it’s all about who has the best hand

high card is the best card
a pair is two of one card number
a two pair is two pairs obviously
three of a kind is three cards of the same number
four of a kind is literally three of a kind but four
a straight is a straight line of numbers (like 3 4 5 6 7)
a flush is all cards being the same suit (suits being Spades, Clubs, Hearts, Diamonds)
a full house is a three of a kind and a pair
a straight flush is literally a straight, but also a flush
a five of a kind is impossible using basic poker rules
the highest hand you can have is a Royal Straight Flush (Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, all the same suit.)
obviously these weren’t actually in order of rank though
in texas holdem you use the 2 cards in your hand + the 5 card on the table
in normal poker you use the 5 cards in your hand, but you can trade your cards if you have a bad hand
