If I didn’t answer it earlier I thought their role was pretty much an anti-swing vt. I feel like from a hosting perspective the way this game was made to be played was having masons create pr’s and having the benefits cop vet what’s done and get outed. To go a step further I kinda wonder if I was specifically given this role as a player for that function of balance (although I don’t know how this site treats host meta)

the wolf wincon isnt ‘look less suspicious’ its ‘overcome the town’
wolves push VTs, and are cautious around PRs
the average wolf doesnt think as many steps ahead as you’re suggesting. a strong or experienced wolf might notice that a player is definitely going to go over, and might hop and ‘defend’ that player
but i think in more scenarios than not, wolves will be pushing those who they know cant use mechanics as a defence, and whiteknighting those who they know can clear themselves (such as how wisp treated kaif)

Mmmm ok, I see what you’re saying. I do think wolves probably took advantage of the turbulent reads and lack of consensus on most slots, though. Except for Marl and Silviu, literally no one was consensus anything for the first couple days, and Derps only after Silviu spewed him as mason lol. As I said before, there has been a lack of consensus on anyone at all, and players (Guillo in particular) pushing that there was a consensus looked extremely suspicious to me for directing a narrative that only existed because they’ve been repeating it over and over again, and not because it was there in the first place. I was never consensus town and neither were Guillotina or Helz. All three of us got widely townread but never enough that I’d call it consensus.

wolves thrive in threads that have no solid core and can push nearly any angle they want without having to dig out of a PoE or drag people out of consensus townreads

I will also say I am really hesitant in Chloe. Every time I town read them I find another suspicious and opertunistic action that makes me question their alignment. I think you should only ever trust that slot if they straight up champion wolf flips
