Also because for me personally lynch has no connotations. I didn’t even knew its meaning besides “mafia thing”.
Whilst I in general get what you are saying, the verb ‘Lynch’ does not have a racial meaning. It is a mob vigilante killing, and perfectly encapsulates the mechanic in fm.
Real people have been lynched during awful events in the past, but that does not mean a verb should be avoided. Just like real people have been killed by the Mafia, burned by arsonists and stabbed by serial killers. Real people have committed suicide out of guilt from a mistake they have made. All these things have situations were to use them or to make light if them would be insensitive at best.
But FM is not one of them. If the use of the word lynch is a barrier to entry for someone, then they probably won’t enjoy a serious game of FM anyway.
As I have said before, we all have the duty to not be offensive - but nobody has the right to not be offended.

it’s easy to conceptualise those things away because those are rare things
lynching black people was a massive thing that still occurs outside of America today
like if suicide made a lot of people uncomfortable we’d have them be executed by the guards for failing their job, or something
it’s just flavour
the word lynch makes some people uncomfortable, ergo it should be changed, simple as that
i don’t see what value you get from arguing against it
If someone comes one day and says hey guys my house got burned down it is really uncomfortable to me to play a game with a role named Arsonist I would be just yeah okay we can change that
But changing things to prevent someone getting offended is eh
but this isn’t about that
people do get offended by the use of the word lynch
it’s small but significant, as stated
The person who sparked the discussion for getting offended used the word themselves before complaining
Right, but lynch is a verb. Like segregate. A lot of synonyms of lynch could also ne as harrowing as lynch is, because it only describes the action.
There are many contexts where lynch is not racially connected - FM is one of them.
