actually like this take
Thats… exactly what we’re doing
we arent punishing anyone for using the word unless its in racist context
This is like banning the word ‘gay’ because someone used it as an insult
It’s incredibly stupid because the word could be used in a perfectably acceptable context
You are forcing hosts to replace the word lynch though.
Exactly this
mods gay
That isnt a punishment.
What would happen if someone kept editing it back to lynch though?
Then they edit it back to lynch
/dybu dabu Geyde
/dybu dabu dybu dabu
ubu dabu dubing dabuit dwrong
I’m confused on why you are editing it then anyway…
But we’ve agreed that lynch used in the right context is acceptable but as a racist slur isn’t
So by banning ‘lynch’ you are essentially agreeing that it it’s racist but simultaneously saying it isn’t by letting players use it
Why aren’t we letting hosts and moderators use it in an acceptable context but not as a racial slur
Again-My stance is be consistent. Ban it all or ban it none.
again-my stance is be consistent. Only wolves push town dybu dabu
I have the power of facts and logic on my side
does that make me offensive
yes
Mods I’ll like to issue a complaint. Geyde is offending me heavily pls ban.
only wolves complain when they are being pushed
dybu dabu
I could see moderation banning themselves from using it for a sort of ‘professionalism’, like how governments (usually) never swear because of professionalism
But hosts are not affiliated with the forum
Precisely why we arent enforcing it, but rather suggesting people change words.
We aren’t banning lynch.
We want this community to be as welcoming as possible, and the word has made players uncomfortable in the past. We want more players to want to play here, and we don’t want to offend anyone, therefore the Moderators will be refraining from using this word, and we ask that hosts and players change to something else - but we are not enforcing it. If we see the word “lynch” used in an OP, or by a host, we will change it, but we cannot stop people from using it altogether.
This isn’t some law or legal contract
This has become much bigger than it needed to be
All we are doing is giving a public stance on how the Moderation team views the word, and asking people to replace it with something else
We are not punishing people for it
