“Why would it matter to you, assassin?”
Dawa took a defensive posture in both senses, as well expected from a guard.
Andrei starts to shake as he hold the staff close to him
“I got a signal. I’m not an enemy.”
She holds up a medal identical to what the mayor had.
“I’m here to lead the way to an old friend, there the darned army won’t find a trace.”
He then removed the medal from inside his cloak to show it to the girl.
“As said. Any idea on why the raid happened?”
“There’s only one reason why. Grant the Second must have already perished. The crown prince is a musclehead, yet no one defies him. Hah!”
She puts the medal back into her sleeves.
“We have to leave now. Your lord has ordered a retreat, but the other platoons are going to come back any minute now.”
“C-Can you t-take me a-and my brother with you?”
“Wait, did him? Damn it! Grant, I knew this order wouldn’t have come from Grant! I agree. I will find somewhere to put those seven orphans either near here or in Argus.”
“Orders were to kill anyone and everyone, right? I’ve saw people run to Argus to be slaughtered. There’s a better place to go.”
She points at the forest.
“One person lives there, who will keep them hidden.”
Eh? One person lives there? Wasn’t it uninhabitated? No one has ever reported anything of anyone living there.
“C-Can m-me and m-my come with y-you?”
“Yes, the orders were those. However we reached a consensus in letting some, specially children, stay alive as they would be the foundation of tomorrow and as long they weren’t burdens. Anyway, I don’t think you are baiting me in a trap when I have seven children with me so for now I will follow your words. Would they hide and create seven of them, though?”
Considerating the oral tradiction and the magic from before, he has a pretty good idea on who could it be.
“She would, she hates the prince more than anyone. I’m sure you’ll understand once you see her. Besides, I don’t think you have a choice here. Your superior’s orders don’t override those of the prince’s, so you put your unit at risk if you do not follow me.”
She sternly warns, picking up Tress and Lyn. The rest of the kids start levitating from the ground.
“We don’t have much time… C’mon now.”
“W-What is this?! C-Can you please put us down?!”
Andrei starts freaking out even more as he starts floating
“So it makes me a traitor. How nice. Raiji and Nicol, be with the others. If I someday get a breach from work, I will see you again. Well… It is going to be strange not to send my money to somewhere else, for sure.”
The two nods their heads and begins levitating as well.
“Alright. Hmph!”
She begins chanting an incantation.
Everyone becomes invisible to anything else besides the ones affected.
“Use this to get to Argus without detection. It’ll wear off once you get to your superior. He’ll understand.”
The sound of troops marching can be heard in the distance.
“And you better have well arranged things out, or otherwise I’m just going to be punished to hell.”
“You have that medal, right? He’ll understand. Its him you know?”
She grins, before taking the kids to the forest.
“We’ll meet again.”
The dressed lady enters the forest with all the kids. They reach the waterfall… A peaceful setting.
@Mercenary Perhaps its time to leave. Report to your superior.
Yeah, it is. The horse was still here, and Dawa disappeared leaving a young Raiji to Nicol.
“H-Haven’t we come here before just a few hours ago?”
