“How fun! All of you, right now, are each other’s quarry… Look around you. Do you really think that none of you would go so far as to kill you in order to regain the life they once had?”
”Wha- what now?! Even though i’m Marked with the blood of Sin, my magic heals instead of harms. What kind of monsters do you think we are?”
“Life we once had? What’s that supposed to mean?..”
“…I had a life? Cool…”
“Here’s how things will go down. If a murder should be committed, then upon three people discovering the dead body, you will have a period of 24 hours to investigate the crime. The hunter shall become the quarry of the entire class.”
“m-murder? i… i could never!”
laughs nervously
“Wait. Wait”
“Let me get it straight.”
“We are provided food and water, we are not forced to do anything, but we CAN learn if we want to. We pay no tution and we can stay like that indefinete amount of time, without need of returning to society and working for own upkeep?”
“GREATEST SCHOOL EVER”
“Think about it.” N sighed, throwing his arms out around him. “Freedom. Free will. We can’t leave here… not until we Graduate.”
”Um…what happens if we can’t identify the- the killer?”
“After your 24 hours are up, the Ultimate Hunt will begin- the Class Trial. You will have a while to discuss the evidence, but then… snap! Voting time! One of you will be chosen to be executed.”
“Well this was fun. Well, actually no. It was a waste of time. I’m leaving. How do we get out?”
“Uh…Honestly, I think we have free will here…”
“…Can we leave…I have someone I’d like to talk to.”
“Now, the only punishment for if you kill the wrong person will be simply having the blood of an innocent on your hands… at first. But beware. If you execute enough people incorrectly… I’ll consider the entire class devoid of any sort of talent, and axe the lot of you.”
“…”
He looked down, sharply inhaling. Of course. Murder. No wonder why the roster was full of crazy people.
“Why don’t you get it…?” N’s voice became distant. “You can’t leave.”
“…Is that an issue?”
“Says who?”
“w-what if we just don’t murder!”
Monoluna laughed cruelly.
“You cannot leave by any other means. As was laid out very clearly in University rules in letters sent before your matriculation, you must remain on campus for the duration of your course.”
“Just try it. How many times do you think you can fail before we find you annoying, or, worse, Monoluna finds you boring?”
