DRX - Mirrored Embers - 0/16

if they ask what the “experience” is, I’ll tell them something like “Hmm? Why did you think that? Strange. You’re sure you’ve never actually used a knife, but you somehow still remember a lot of facts about their use. I’m sure it’s nothing.”

DR1

Fire
Poison
Explosion

DR2

Kunaigeddon
Poison

DR3

DatBird
Strangulation
Fall
Knife
Poison

DR4

Poison
Stab (asterisk that this was a planned collaboration with the plan being that they would cover)
Self kill
I can’t remember
I can’t remember

I’ve seen plenty of “they just got stabbed lmao” on ToS, actually. A lot of the more interesting variations come from stuff apart from the body.

Danganronpa 1

Chapter 1 - thrown in incinerator (weapon was obvious)
Chapter 2 - poison (weapon was figured out right away)
Chapter 3 - environmental trap (was obvious)

Danganronpa 2

Chapter 1 - kunai (obvious IIRC? ‘wow we found some kunai. amazing.’)
Chapter 2 - poison (figured out quickly)

Danganronpa 3

Chapter 1 - spear
Chapter 2 - suffocation (IIRC) (not disputed)
Chapter 3 - thrown off of building (obvious)
Chapter 4 - knife (knife was found)
Chapter 5 - poison (:joy_cat: )

HPU

Chapter 1 - poison (obvious)
Chapter 2 - I honestly don’t remember even though I was literally there.
Chapter 3 - literal gamethrowing? wowee
Chapter 4 - drill (figured out quickly)
Chapter 5 - ditto

Considering how players play here, I think predominantly it will be environment / poison / gimmick kills

mindmeld

actually come to think of it
it’s way more problematic to know that something wasn’t done with a knife, isn’t it

Kat only did the murder because they had the secret room btw

That’s how dicey standard kills are

So
I’ll ask you

Are you okay with this

Because the information you give players leans toward standard kills being even harder

i should probably cut one or two of them, but not all of them

Defo should give players some things

hm

historically ‘getting people to kill’ has been one of the hardest part of DR games

but outside of DR1 this mostly hasn’t seemed to have much to do with how easy it is/how easy it is to get away?

Well you’re in luck
This playerlist actually kills

yeah
most of the design in this game was me giving people stuff that is Vaguely Useful for killing

but like
stuff that people would go “i wonder how i could take advantage of this” in response to

the thing is that it’s a slashing wound that the knife ability works on
stab wounds, it can’t do anything about

I disagree
Kat killed immediately DR2 because of gimmicks
TL kill was accidental tbh
Dat wasn’t always killing until he got the perfect opportunity
Alice killed in part because they could cover up their own murder
Min had teammates lol and they had to do it
Gorta proves your point but he’s Gorta
Italy was going for a more guaranteed win by choosing mm

I didn’t want to pull off a kill until it was reliable
I don’t understand why Sulit did pretty much anything they did
lolgghana
Conduit had seemingly a hard to figure out plan (look at how that same night kill gets repeated again)

hm

part of what I’m thinking is, in DR3 endgame, there were a lot of people who had the chance to kill fairly easily, and chose not to? admittedly part of that is ‘lolPKR’
