What about power roles and neutrals is fun?
Everything
So choosing semi-random people and possibly getting a result is fun, hmm?
Itās the mystery aspect
Icibalus you are 100% right about peopleās views about power roles
If you want the mystery aspect then going hard on reads is the most fun thing there is.
they have no idea why they are actually fun
You cant make me like vanilla roles
Why arenāt they fun? Just explain it to me.
Hmm, well reads just arent fun me as vanilla roles. I like to prove stuff
Gamer, have you ever considered that it might not be fun because you have never attempted them
you are seriously misunderstanding the point of mafia if you only care about roles
Maybeee
Thatās why ive started playing misc games
The fun part of mafia is being right
The interesting part of mafia is being wrong and then getting better
See, for me thatās just a logic puzzle. And a logic puzzle comprised entirely of semi-random elements is by definition not a good logic puzzle, as it dosenāt have a defined and interesting path to the solution.
Reading people is a psychological logic puzzle based on peopleās motivations, and understanding the logic of the game not purely based on the mechanical elements but also based on the posts and understanding of the gamestate.
See, I will agree that reading people isnāt as fun as getting a red peek on somebody AT FIRST. But as you get more experienced at it becomes more and more addictive, which is why the overwhelming trend amongst experienced mafia players is to prefer playing village over wolf.
And donāt get me started on why most neutrals are really bad.
The other reason why high-PR games are bad is because they almost always stop the wolves from actually wolfing.
You canāt cut it close and take risky plays when youāre likely to be peeked 3 times the following night, trapping your partners into an unbelievably tight PoE that is seemingly inescapable.
And yes, this is me still being bitter about FoLT. If a SINGLE WOLF can convince the village to mislynch 4 times including a near-confirmed Mystic and yet still lose, that poses a pretty big threat to the supposed fun of rolemadness as an actual strategic game.
although half of it was the fault of the fact my wolfbuddies literally did nothing all game
oh hey I was spiritualist that game
I was really bored
being a confirmed NK is unfun
