cats in america say “meow”
cats in japan say “nya”
cats in my house say “I AM A VESSEL OF SATAN. SERVE ME HUMAN FLESH OR FACE ETERNAL TORMENT. 666.”
funny how that works
I’m genuinely confused
like if you go step by step sure but that feels like saying “apple” is pronounced similarly to “street” because you can get there in X many steps
katze in america says “Hi internet strangers, I have a real life name but you guys can call me “katze”. It’s actually the german word for cat, haha. It’s pronounced “kat-zuh”, for the record, and it’s a name i really just like using. Whenever I need to choose a profile picture, I choose a cat of course. I’m a kitty cat! I love randomly saying “meow”, or saying things like “meowch” instead of “ouch”, or “right meow” instead of “right now”. Did you guys know that before I actually spoke in forum of lies voice calls, i’d just randomly meow. How quirky! But there’s one thing to remember. IM NOT A FURRY!!!”
I got a little time so I gotta respond.
Orange, it’s 7am, I got school at 8am, I got a little thing to do called getting ready
cats don’t make sounds that can be reproduced with human vocal cords
so humans when transcribing the sounds make choices and convetions that they think best represents those sounds
for cats, this usually involves a nasal followed by a front vowel shifting from closed to open (and possibly ending by rounding the lips)
