Sorc isn’t weak. The problem is that her dynamic isn’t actually that fun.
Nerfing her and then reworking the Inquis to something entirely different would be one way to go about it.

The problem with poss is that it’s bad late game. It’s easily outed then and has no way to kill the MM/king.
What’s wrong with reap?
No. That would only be possible through RNG, and RNG that’s not at the beginning should never be added.
Agreed, but inquisitor just needs a complete rework. Hardcounters shouldn’t exist.
It needs a rework, not a buff. It’s win con is fine, just not for neutral killing. And no class deserves a hardcounter.
I agree that possessor is underrated, but the main issue with him is that he has no way to kill the MM/king. And passwords easily out him.
I feel like the right investigation ability might be able to midigate these issues (while still leaving them as weaknesses overall)
For example what if failing to kill someone (no devs not just failing to attack them. A healed attack is just as failed as hitting an immune target) gave you their exact class bypassing immunitys including the kings. This could be a day ability modifier and thus be limited.
Afterall if you know who the MM is then killing him is easy (just accuse him). And if you know the kings alignment then you can tailor your approach towards him.
Easy solution
Let him see the targets chat from before when possessing him
It’s not a fun mechanic (for neither the reaper nor the victim), it’s easy to check (you can more or less tell it’s a reaper game on d2, and confirm it by d3), it makes physicians/alchemists feel useless, and the only advantage of the reaping mechanic can be duplicated by Icy Touch.
I would much prefer it if the Reaper worked like an Arsonist, where the reaping still takes a soul and marks the target (but doesn’t kill them and the victim is not informed), and then the reaper can spend a night to kill all the people he’s marked at once.
This isn’t necessarily true. There is an order in which actions take place at night, a priority (the King’s OE, for example, seems to be very low priority). The Circle of Death can be made to take out the first/last 1 or 2 people that visit the target, according to their priority order.
Alternatively, they can keep Circle of Death as-is and give Sorcerer a more interesting core ability than Magic Missile.
Not how that works. People don’t visit in a set order.
Hence why Merc can block happy hour but a happy hour can stop a merc guard.
Same with a normal occupy and barrier
Also what happens if 3 invokers visit the same player as a CoD?
Possessor should be able to kill the MM/king themselves though.
What makes it not fun? Sure it’s slow, but that makes it different.
That’s a weakness of it. And it’s not always easy to tell the difference between a reaped player, AFK player, or an evil pretending to be reaped
I agree with this. Reap should just not bypass heal normally and gather darkness should be changed so it bypasses heal and immunity.
That would be better. Magic Missile is too basic for a NK.
Arsonist and Arso style killings are UP AF fundamentally
Not necessarily. This is more of a “we should try it out and see thing” but immunity piercing may not be as required as you might think.
Reaper does not need nerfs
Would just like to point out that in the absence of other NKs with a standard kill having a basic attack is unique.
It’s just the impression I get from the game. Maybe not every action has a strict order, but it definitely feels that some actions happen before/after others (again, like King’s OE).
It’s just not a fun mechanic? As the Possessor, you can try to frame targets using Puppet Strings and manipulate BD to turn on each other, and you have to act like the victim when you possess. As the Sorcerer, you have to carefully choose the Circle of Death targets to maximise deaths and contact the other evils subtly. And then as the Reaper you just… kill. That’s it. And the victim doesn’t even “die” right away, but they do nothing. From a victim’s standpoint, the reaping is not any better than normal death, and it’s even worse because an Empowered Reap has very little counterplay. For the Reaper, the true fun mechanic of the class is the soul management and using the soul abilities correctly, not the killing itself.
Yeah, hence why I suggest it on the Reaper, whose soul mechanics make him rather powerful. You can even give him a discount/boost on some of his soul abilities (like if the “ignition” naturally bypasses death immunity, then you can lower the cost of Icy Touch to 1 and have Gather Darkness allow the reaping to bypass visiting prevention and occupation).
You can even buff the reaping under this model so that it gives some form of investigative result, to allow the Reaper to claim an investigative class.
Not how that works. And even if it was they would need to make it clear exactly where on that priority list each ability is so that it would be clear.
And the ability resolution code is COMPLICATED! Like multiple pages of code with lots of functions reaching to other parts.
Seriously I asked about this.
Merc is NOT BD aligned.
It’s anti-Cult/Unseen, which the vast majority of the time means pro-BD. Most of the time you and the Sorcerer will be opposed (because the Sorcerer will usually want to keep Unseen/Cult alive and win with them), and the Possessor being in a winning position against both BD and Cult/Unseen is extremely rare.
Merc does not win with BD. Too many Mercs assume they’re an extension of BD and (wrongly) try to get NKs killed.
The outcome is only rare because most Mercs play incorrectly.
Merc win guide
1.Get unseen/Cult killed
2.Make sure NK win at all cost
3.GG
That’s having a low skill floor, not a high one
Nope. High is right.
A high skill floor means that you need to be more skilled to get started
No a skill floor is the base power of somebody with a low skill
