[FM] Anime FM - Game Thread - Non anime won... yay?

okay look

I’m probably dead tonight so here’s how we’re going to do ITAs tomorrow

this is mostly based off of playing in + watching games happen on other sites

Good Ways to Use Shots

  • if we have any outed wolves off of mechanics or whatever, they always go on the shot list. duh.
  • Anyone who’s been generally wolfy goes on the shot list.
  • PoEish people/slankers go on the shot list.
  • Ideally, the shot lists include actual lists. Giving specific lists is a tactic that I’ve seen be highly effective on other sites, since it makes it easier to coordinate shots among people who aren’t reading the thread.

Hero shots

  • These are bad and we shouldn’t do them
  • Most of the time your hero shot will be wrong. Yes, we can point to specific examples of times when, like, Ici hero-shot greenpeeked PKR, or whatever, but in the majority of cases, your hero shot will not be correct and all it will accomplish is killing a towncore player.
  • Even if someone’s hero shot is right, shooting in the PoE is still going to be better in most circumstances at hitting scum (imagine a towncore of 6 people with 1 deepwolf, vs. a PoE of 10 players half of whome are wolves and half of whom are villagers)
  • Additionally, villagers taking hero shots gives scum license to take hero shots while blending in, which lets them turn ITAs into wolf KP.

Revenge shots (for decent kills)

  • So remember in JoJo when we had a PoE that included a mix of wolves and PoE villagers? and then other villagers shot at the PoE villagers, and as soon as someone hit everyone immediately turned around and tried to kill them? that was bad. don’t do that.
  • if someone is shooting at PoE people who are on consensus shot lists, we shouldn’t automatically kill them just because they happened to successfully land a shot and it happened to land on town.

If you are high on the shot list and can clear yourself

  • Do that.

If you aren’t sure where to shoot

  • Consult with the thread first.

okay but like

surely protectives exist?

As what Katze said, I don’t go into much efforts in making read lists in large games because it’s way time-consuming.

In mashes ideally you should make only two lists. A shot list, and a do-not-shoot list.

I’m used to large games like this one having strongman effects as a thing

maybe that’s more of an Alice thing

Later in the game I split them into a do-not-shoot-list, a discouraged list, a shot-but-not-as-confident-as-the-fourth list, and a shot list. But yeah, too many people for me to get a closer read on.

Eh, I do abuse strongman effects in my game, so I think it’s possible the wolves don’t have one.

eh, fair

in any case ill miss you

Who’s on your shot/do-not-shoot list?

would the combination of these two lists contain every player in the game?

Not really. Shot lists are optimal shots. Do-not-shoot lists are shots that should never be taken as they included consensus v-reads and mech-confirmed villagers and should only be reconsidered late-game. In the between is everyone else and if a player shot there flips W, then the killer gets a lot of towncred, if they flip V, then the killer is more suspicious as they could elect to shoot someone in the shot list over the optimal shot.

so would you say that the people not in either list are more null/leans and the people on the lists are townreads/scumreads

Pretty much.

so its just a readlist with less steps

at this point here’s roughly what I’m thinking:

don’t shoot:

Me
Astand
Zone
Derps
Squid
DatBird
DryBones

you*
katze*

do shoot:

Emilia
Boss
an_gorta
Blue
Lendun
Ami**
EVO**
Ici**
anyone else I forgot about because they’re slanking so hard I haven’t noticed they’re in the game**

*the asterisk is like, ‘I’m not confident they’re village but I also don’t really want shots pointing there yet’
**mostly because of slanking

Important note: My shot list is missing a couple of people that I removed solely because they’re in one of my neighborhoods and I want to get a better sense of their alignment through the neighborhood.

Yes and no. Order doesn’t matter on shot lists and it’s way less specific.

I’d say yes, with the caveat that ‘also all the slankers go in the shot list’ is pretty common as ITAs are basically a free way to get rid of slankers

For this I think they should be allowed to use their role first.

Also I’d add cheese here as well for the reasoning I posted earlier.

is it because you like me

I would say that in general we should be letting anyone on our shot list show up and exist before shooting them

there’s some downside potential of a wolf PR being able to use whatever their PR is but I’d take it over, like, ITAing an innocent child to death
