Kai’s claim is weird but overall he’s been pretty townie, especially today
I don’t think gladiating Emilia there makes sense from a scum perspective (regardless of her alignment) because he couldn’t be confident of winning the gladiate, and also it shows a type of confidence that usually comes from town!Kai

I kind of feel like if they were scum being wagoned their teammates would tell them to actually show up at all and defend themself
