So does anyone have advice here on how I can improve? The biggest thing I did wrong was letting myself get thrown off so early by Solic’s early scumread on me, but I definitely made numerous other mistakes (accidentally slipping Blue as scum, the unsuccessful distancing thing with Dat, etc.)

(For those wondering, the real life stuff that came up really did happen, I was actually kind of annoyed because I’d been hoping to be able to manipulate the thread consensus about me exploding Derps and the fallout from that, like, at all.)

If i were you, I would’ve harddefended dat.

a)because blue was dead at that point and it was 2v7
b)because dat held your det, and just based off probability, you were most likely scum if dat was flipped.

I missed most of what happened but tonally you seemed more concerned with appearing town and appearing like you were scumhunting than actually finding scum.

I also would’ve taken all town dets because the mindset of “lynch player who was held by mafia” kinda overtook this thread(sorry kyo <3)

The Derps detonation logic was ‘we’re basically caught at this point, better do something that’s so obviously dumb that scum!Arete would never risk being so obvious and hope people think along those lines’

Then Kyo detonated Solic and I was like ‘this might actually be working, how the hell is this maybe actually working’

I’m going to go and probably read on some more forum games. In the mean time I’ll host my setups and then take a break. If you couldn’t tell this is my first forum ever playing mafia. I’ll need some time to adapt. My reads are all over the place currently.

Honestly this. You have no factional kill if you are scum and you can only kill people based off detonations. Your goal in this game is to get people to doubt their town reads and to get them to kill their scumreads, and you should of hard defended datbird there with stuff saying “I’ll like someone to kill me if datbird is scum”.

If datbird ever flipped, Alice would have been cleared and a couple of others. Your goal was to prevent them from being cleared and go actually get people to doubt them.

in this game mode you can’t afford two mafia deaths as the game becomes near impossible, if you aren’t getting town to contradict themselves or making them appear more scummy to others then they actually are then you are doing it wrong
