Very controversial opinion but ToL NKs are slightly overpowered (and balanced by the fact that people don’t try).

Like, my ToL NK winrate is ~38 percent, that’s kind of absurdly high for an SK.

I agree that FoL NKs are underpowered even accounting for the fact that people don’t try but the thing where half the people who roll them don’t try is also a problem.

One thing I’m curious about is whether most NKs are “losing to BD” or “losing to scum” – like, in EFoL 3, I was lynched by Cult majority because Cult had mechanically deduced who I was, I’m curious how often things like that happen vs. the NK being deduced and pushed by BD majority (obviously there are ambiguous situations like a push started by scum but sheeped by BD).

TOL is very mechanics-focused.

NK’s can slip by with a convincing fakeclaim, as reads have very little weight there.

however, NK’s in FoL are read and have to be read for like 72 hours at a time.

Main issue with the NK rn is the lack of tools to use against investigative classes. Like, if a Princess WoWs you, you’re dead. If a Princess flirts you, you end up being locked into the NK PoE for being K/O, if an Observer tracks you to a kill, you have no chance to endgame. If a Maid matchmakes you, hope to whatever deity you worship that the other player is scum or a royal BD.

If you get invested as a NK, it’s kind of your own fault. Nevertheless. Paladin/Sheriff can’t find you. Observer isn’t a dead sentence necessarily. Maid can’t find you anymore (remember that that was changed). Princess only has 2 limited use abilities to find you and you can now claim some more benign neutrals at least. (Still the answer is to just not get checked though)

Demon can bypass Observer when empowered. Possessor bypasses Observer, Reaper can occupy investigatives. Sorcerer cannot be caught upon detonation.

Lich is hard countered by investigatives yes. I think Lich is just fundamentally a bad idea still, but meeh. Rather would have the Archbishop suggestion that was made in that NK competition that gains a bonus on attaining King. Equally unique concept and less problematic.

NKs were already buffed recently.

Using the small sample of rolled FoLs and the various degrees of balance they went through to make any kind of statistical inference is laughable. It’s like taking 20 random ToL games from all the way back to alpha towards now and make a conclusion.
