For player reference, this game will be semi-experimental, but not experimental enough to be considered an EFoL over a normal FoL.

It is semi-experimental because there are some new and altered classes in this game that have not been in FoL in the past. They are as follows:

The Alchemist (Unofficial Class)

Blue Dragon Special
Brew Potion (Day) - Brew a potion, each potion must be brewed once before you can brew the others again. [Infinite Uses]
Apply Potion (Night) - Use the potion you have brewed. You may save it if you wish. [Infinite Uses]
Potions:

  • Truth Potion: Discover the target player’s class type pairing.
  • Tar Potion: Occupy a player, you will be occupy and redirection immune while using this.
  • Health Potion: Heal a player, preventing their death tonight and curing bleeding. :crown:
  • Poison Potion: Attack a player, if they are a member of the Blue Dragon, you will commit suicide instead.

Defeat the Unseen or Cult and any Neutrals who seek to do you harm.

Converts into The Plaguebearer or The Cabalist.


The Tavernkeeper (Unofficial Class)

Blue Dragon Offensive
Steadfast (Passive) - Immune to occupation and target changing.
Dose (Day) - Target player is occupied for this day. - 1 Use
Mix Rooms (Night) - Target 2 other players. Redirect all players targeting either of your targets to the other. You will be seen visiting your first target only. This cannot target the same player twice in a row. - Infinite uses
Serve Ale (Night) - Redirect a player to themselves. - 1 Use
Defeat the Unseen or Cult, and any Neutrals that seek to do you harm.

Converts into The Wench or The Invoker.


The Plaguebearer (Unofficial Class)

Unseen Special
Brew Potion (Day) - Brew a potion, each potion must be brewed once before you can brew the others again. - Infinite Uses
Apply Potion (Night) - Use the potion you have brewed. You may save it if you wish. - Infinite Uses
Potions:

  • Truth Potion: Discover the target player’s class if they are a member of the Blue Dragon.

The Cabalist (Unofficial Class) :crossed_swords:

Cult Special
Corax’s Guidance (Day) - Guess the target’s exact class. If correct, you will be able to control their actions tonight. You will be informed if correct. Only usable by the starting Cabalist. - 1 Use
Shape Flesh (Night) - Choose your night action from one of the following. Each can only be done once.

Voodoo Doll - If the Cult Leader uses Eradicate tonight, they may target an additional player at the cost of bleeding you if they do.
Corrupt Intervention - Occupy a player tonight and tomorrow.
Jinx - Determine a player’s class type.
Blood Moon - Target any player. They will appear to be a member of the Blue Dragon if Cult, or a member of the Cult if anyone else.

Your objective is to defeat the Blue Dragon and any Neutrals that oppose you.


The Mind Flayer (Unofficial Class) :shield: :crossed_swords:

Neutral Killer
Insanity (Passive) - You are immune to death at night, occupation and redirection. You are immune to bleeding, and will be informed if attempted to be bled.
Mindstorm (Passive) - Once per night you may guess a player’s class. If you are correct you will empower your attack Brain Destruction to bypass protections. You will gain a one-night buff depending on the class type of the player in question. All players you correctly guess with this ability will have their votes negated on you silently for the next two days. Silently means that the vote will normally appear in vote counts, but the vote would be revealed to be inactivated if and only if either you get hammered or that vote would make the difference between one outcome and another for Parity at EoD. This passive will be disabled if you guess incorrectly twice. Cannot Target the King. You will never be informed as to whether or not you have succeeded with this ability, nor will you ever be informed if you lose this passive (if you lose it, you will not know and can still make attempts with it but they will do nothing then even if you are right), but you can attempt to use this ability multiple times on the same person if you would like. If you are attempting to guess a special type class, you must inform the host what class you would like to appear as to investigators for the night before you submit your guess. You may always attempt to use Insight and Mind Read, even if you normally would have run out of charges, in case you think you had previously succeeded in a use of Mindstorm on an Investigative Class, but if you are actually out of charges, you will be told that the ability has failed; for Insight right then and for Mind Read at the end of the following night phase.
Insight (Day) - Gain a clue to your target’s class type. You receive the same results as princess. Results are given instantly. - 4 Uses
Mind Read (Day) - You will see who your target visits tonight. Results are given at the end of the night phase. - 4 Uses
Brain Destruction (Night) - Kill a player. You will be able to choose who they target tonight, bypassing redirection immunity. You may not redirect the King. - Infinite Uses :crown:
Whispers of Insanity (Night) - Cause a player to commit suicide, destroying their logs and allowing you to determine what they flip as the next day. You will receive their real class and their logs. - 1 Use
Possible Buffs Gained:

  • Killer: Gain an addition use of Whispers of Insanity.
  • Offensive: You will occupy everyone visiting you, bypassing occupy immunity.
  • Support: You will heal yourself tomorrow night, curing infection and bleed.
  • Social: You will be guaranteed to visit your target.
  • Investigative: All uses of Insight and Mind Read will be replenished. Your visits will be hidden from Investigators.
  • Special: You will appear as the class of your choice to investigators.

Your objective is to defeat the Blue Dragon, Unseen, Cult and any neutrals that dare stand in your way.


The Lich (Unofficial Class) :shield: :fire:

Neutral Killer
Phylactery (Passive) - During Day One, specify two players to unknowingly be your Phylactery Holders excluding King. If you fail to do so before the end of the day, they are randomized. You will know their starting classes. Investigations against the Phylactery Holders will also yield the additional message “You feel a chill surrounding the target player. They are a Phylactery Holder for The Lich.” If your Phylactery Holders die, this fact that they are one will be included with their class information.
Undeath (Passive) - As long as the Phylactery Holders are both alive, at the start of every night you will automatically revive yourself if you are dead, regardless of how they died. You are night, bleed occupy and redirection immune while at least one of them lives. You will be informed if bled attempts are made. If both of the Phylactery Holders are dead you will die the following night.
Spectral Mist (Day) - A target Phylactery Holder is healed tonight. - 3 uses
Black Fog (Day) - Attempts to investigate either of the Phylactery Holders will fail tonight. - 3 uses
Finger of Decay (Night) - Kill a player. If you were revived at the start of the night, then this attack bypasses night immunity and healing. - Infinite uses :crown:
Death’s Curtains (Night) - Kill one of your Phylactery holders and two other targets. (bypasses night immunity, healing and does not count as a visit for specifically the two other targets), - Infinite uses, but only usable while you have two Phylactery Holders alive :crown:

Neutral Killer
Cloak Of Mithras (Passive) - Immune to death at night, occupation and target changing. In addition you are immune to bleeding and will be informed upon being bled.
Brand of Sacrifice (Day) - Bleed target player. - 1 use :crown:
Haemophilia (Day) - Increases the power of Funeral Pyre tonight. - 3 uses, 1 day cooldown
Funeral Pyre (Night) - Set your target ablaze, killing them. If Haemophilia is used, the target is immune to visits from others except you, and anyone who attempts to visit them is also killed by the flames. In addition, Funeral Pyre will bypass death immunity on the initial target and not count as a visit. - Infinite uses :crown:

2) By popular demand, the Inquisitor and Inquisitive King classes have been changed in the following two ways to make the class more in-line with the Inquisitor from Throne of Lies:

a) The term “Heathen” was changed to “Heretic”.

b) Having at least one heathen in each faction is NO LONGER guaranteed.

Neutral Investigative
Zealous Pursuit (Passive) - You hunt three heretics. Their starting classes are [x], [x] and [x]. They are ignorant of their own heresy. You will commit suicide after completing your righteous mission. You keep this passive if you are elected to be the Inquisitive King.
Holy Blessing (Passive) - You are death and bleed immune only once.
Interrogate (Night) - Learn whether target player is a heretic. Does not bypass tailors. - Infinite uses
Ruthless Efficiency (Night) - Guess target’s player exact starting class. Can only guess Blue Dragon Heretic classes from Zealous Pursuit. If incorrect, disable Holy Blessing and Ruthless Efficiency. If correct, provided they are a heretic, kill target player bypassing everything. You cannot be prevented, occupied or redirected. This does not count as a visit. - Infinite uses
Live to see all heretics die.

Heretics cannot be Neutral Non-Killers, Neutral Killers, Guaranteed Blue Dragon, or Kings.


The Inquisitive King (Unofficial Class) :shield: :fire:

Neutral Special
Pass The Torch (Passive) - If you die, a vote to determine the next king will be held at start of the next day.
Archbishop (Passive) - Immune to occupation and redirection. You are immune to death and bleeding once. Your abilities will not be seen by investigative abilities. You can use both day abilities in the same day.
Grand Trial (Day) - Instantly put a player on trial for treason lasting up to 24 hours possibly extending day. They may provide a defense within 12 hours, and then the players alive may either vote to execute or pardon. If a majority of players vote to execute, the day will end and the player on trial will be lynched. Otherwise, the day will continue as normal. - 1 use
Allies (Day) - Choose up to three players. During this night, you will have a private chat with them. - Infinite Uses
Guard Shakedown! (Night) - Learn if target player is a heretic. If so they cannot be prevented from dying by any means this night. If not, they will be death immune this night. - Infinite uses
Ruthless Efficiency (Night) - Guess target’s player exact starting class. Can only guess Blue Dragon Heretic classes from Zealous Pursuit. If incorrect, disable your one time death/bleeding immunity and Ruthless Efficiency. If correct, provided they are a heretic, kill target player bypassing everything. Geyde and I are working on getting these new and updated classes added into the FoL class thread, but in the meantime, above are all the current changes for your reference.

I’ve always wondered, what is the point in these “Unofficial class” remarks, what does that even mean?

The “Unofficial Class” suffix term denotes a class that does not currently exist in the official Throne of Lies game.

Demon has existed for a long time, and I remember in EFoL 3 it still had a mark of “Unofficial Class”…

And Cabalist and Mind Flayer are “Official” then for some reason or what?

I don’t see a point tbh.

I realize we are currently inconsistent with this and not all classes that should be marked as unofficial are, so we can work on fixing all of that but I would just say to not pay attention to it as it literally has no in-game meaning.

It’s just clutter then imo, as a huge amount of classes are not in ToL.

It’s not my place to remove the term.

Every class just added to FoL is unofficial, and my post was just updated to reflect that.

Yeah, I’m not saying you have anything to do with that, I just don’t know what is the point when FoL is very different from ToL anyway.

I would hope Forum of Lies has power in bringing the ToL and i42 Forums communities together. Because of this, I feel it is important to pay omage and reference which classes in Forum of Lies exist in the current patch of Throne of Lies and which do not, whether they are defunct classes from ToL (like Priest, Soulcatcher, and Acolyte) or were user-created (like most others). This isn’t as important for other game modes here on the forums but for classical FoL, it’s my opinion that that suffix should stay.

Well a lot of classes aren’t really like the ToL pendants, so yeah, technically most of the classes are “inofficial”

Yeah they have to be a lot different in terms of function because ToL is just a lot different from a FoL environment because of the massive difference in terms of in-game time between the two. Still, I feel using the “Unofficial Class” suffix has value because classes without that suffix have the same names as their variants in ToL and we try to make them have the same ability names and have their abilities function as close to their equivalents in ToL as possible.

@anon97870008 you do have a point. Self-lynching fool just does not work well in a forum environment which is why it was changed. But yeah, FoL Fool is just so different from ToL Fool now that it is now officially an Unofficial Class. This will be updated in the FoL classcard thread when we can do so.
