[FoL] Forum of Lies 29 - OVER (9/18) - CULT FOOL WIN

My intuition as always is on point, if this is MM/CL but town-aligned, I have knack of picking people I targeted as 100% scum and most of the time I picked the allies for the gamesolving.

But…what you did…

I should have traded you for the backup who gives a damn

you do realized that i did target vulgard
and i wasn’t made aware that i was redirected
and you were fucking fliptailored

Did you target me n1 or n2?

n2

No idea what happened, but probably lolwillage I assume.

yes

frost redirected me off katze to himself n1

Okay, then I made the right mechanical choices. I tailored myself as Paladin d3 and would do that d4 as well to make you see me as compatible with a town. (I was hoping for that.)

if i found you as compatible i was actually going to get you and my other target executed because i expected fool to frame my most recent check

That changes nothing, you had a chance to caught them red handed when TBE fucked this up.

But it is truly your fault

Even with the knowledge that your flip was altered, I doubt anyone would be able to guess that you were exactly a Drunk who redirected Italy to yourself on N1

it is my fault that the fool came in and fucked everything up while everyone agrees it was a fool frame on kat
yes
i decide every single action that everyone makes except yours

They stopped at the point the ‘gossip’ revealed I ain’t investigating Arete despite my altered logs said.

I don’t care if you don’t have the energy of FoL27 or whatever

Nothing is done to deduce

Nothing is done to deduce, every living town pretty much give up on the game when I died.

I want to reiterate this again:

I think the main takeaway of this game is that town needs to think logically and explain logically.

Feeling people and using tonal reads is totally fine, but you need to explain why. That’s very important

Katze and Arete did an excellent job reading. However, they didn’t do a good job casing.

WoW was much better on this - everyone took logical stances in the early game especially.

Blizer explained their reads
Centuries explained their reads
Alice explained their reads
Marshal explained their reads

In this game, there was someone I found to be particularly townie and misread Vulgard (like Centuries).

If there was ever any logical case on Vulgard, Centuries might have been convinced.

Personally for me, when someone tells me a player feels off (like Anstreim did to me in spec chat), it only really prompts me to take a second look at them, which could allow me to come to another conclusion, but it might not. I had to read CRich over and over again in SFOL61.5 and in the end I convinced myself that he was scum, other people did NOT, when with ideal town, I should have been the one convinced by others.

There are plenty of good examples of people being logical on this site though. One good example is Hippolytus towncasing himself in Poisonous Mafia IV. He convinced people he was town because he used logic. And this same idea can be applied to any argument one is trying to make.

That’s why I want to move away from pure unexplained gutreads or baseless reads and move more towards logical reads.

I hate how I keeping on using Vulgard as an example here but the reason I do so is because in this game, you are an example of a correctly read wolf who didn’t get lynched due to lack of logical reads.

But I really respect you as a player and I don’t think you are a bad wolf, i think it’s just that you have the highest villager bar and anyone in Your position would struggle to meet it.

Nevertheless:

I’ll give you an example of how I might have scumcased Vulgard here using early D1:

Point 1

This is possibly TMI. TBE made no significant AI posts yet this statement comes under the pre-assumption that TBE is town.

Point 2

Starts out reading Chloe and putting her in top TLs and then forgets about her in the game? It seems to me that Vulgards read isn’t genuine as I don’t think Vulgard would forget about someone they TLed earlier.

Point 3

I don’t like this read. Feels like Vulgard is scrambling for a way to respond to pressure with this read and it’s not a really strong one, it’s essentially a “they are SRing me and I’m villager so they must be town”.

(insert some other games of their town games showing the difference)

These above are all valid points about Vulgard and I’m pretty sure they would be much more convincing to others.

The reason I write this is because I’m tired of seeing people trying to push people using reads void of any logic and expecting them to get lynched. As I said, I think Arete and katze did a good job reading (their personal reasoning was fine and their conclusion was correct), but without logical backup, they failed to convince anyone and even began to doubt themselves.

Doing that only works if the town are sheep. THIS town aren’t sheep, so you need logic to convince them.

okay but I am objectively better at reading Vul than anyone else on the site, so they should sheep me

(this is a completely serious take)

also can people stop using my play as an example of ‘bad villager play’ when I … was not a villager … but rather a role that needed all the villagers to die…

I didn’t say your play was bad.
I just said you didn’t do a good job casing
