This sounds like seeking approval to me. As in, deflecting the responsibility from yourself while trying to appear agreeable ā€“ you know, like average scum in ToL asking ā€œDo we exe?ā€ on trials? Just so they can deflect the blame when the trial flips town.
Somewhat same vibes here, but I might be tinfoiling.

My thought process was that heā€™d talk about Allies because thatā€™s what he had seen people do before and he has little experience with handling himself as King.

But yes, after explicitly saying that heā€™d ā€œlike to make better readsā€ and not delivering on it ā€“ this looks worse.
Still, this is D1 and we are talking about King. Iā€™m not going to call his slot lockscum but I donā€™t like it very much.

Yeah Leafia is town this game.
The reasoning isnā€™t strong but itā€™s her own thought that sheā€™s throwing into the thread and backing it up ā€“ looks like Jane is going to owe Cult 6 compliments after all.

Feels weak and a bit ingenuine.

But the thing is, I donā€™t think itā€™s wolfy, even if ingenuine. Feels more like the read of someone who isnā€™t that experienced. The idea is that they probably think that based on a lot of other games, reads arenā€™t typically made that quickly, and thought that it would be a good idea to point it out. Itā€™s kinda performative, but not in a wolfy way?

Yeah I feel like they would do this as either alignment.
