Well he can’t self target and he’s unique.
But the MM can switch the target to the Magistrate himself right? It will be the unseen’s decision to attempt to convert the Magistrate. This will keep the BD wondering about the alignment of the Magistrate, instead of being 100% confirmed almost. Just add that Successor cannot be used if the unseen’s variant of the Magistrate is alive.
That would kinda defeat the point.
What about CW barriering Magistrate against Mislead and having Magistrate Search and Seize outed neutrals, like alchemists?
Barrier prevents negative effects from being used on the target. Mislead IS a negative effect, however it isn’t being used on the Magistrate. Worst case scenario more classes need to be changed for this to work. As long as the premise isn’t fundimentally flawed we are good.
Bureaucracy looks different…?
But this looks like a fun fol/sfol, if this could be a special tol that would be fun too
bureaucracy*
How many uses is this?
For a true bureaucracy, you need to spend 2 night filling out forms before you can do a night action
Its not uninteressing, the Magistrate is like a Sheriff, who is easily manipulated by the mastermind. Its possible he will convert his targets, but the mastermind can also simply change his target its like a burden the BD must carry in order to win.
Edit : Just some notes on the idea
THe Magistrate Cannot be converted, since he cannot convert himself.
Misdirect exist mainly to prevent the magistrate from simply outting all unseen converts, which he could, but since he does not always known who he is converting, that’s keep in check and that’s abilitity is needed.
but a point I dislike is successor. and 4 unseen limit, just too op the magistrate is not a super good member of the BD, its easy to manipulate, so if the magistrate and a drunk become the new magistrate, it is like the BD lost a Drunk…
Otherwise what’s to stop the BD from.just hanging the Magistrate D2?
What about Prince meta, where Magistrate exclusively targets day 1 outed Prince? That means the normally unlimited amount of conversion attempts the MM has, is now lowered to 4. I do not see why this ability should be limited in the first place. I assume this version also means the unseen can convert every night as opposed to the Cooldown version ingame?
Well then the magistrate can’t find unseen
And then it goes to the RNGEUS
First of all in FoL Prince meta is even more impractical than in ToL. This is because there are no whispers and there are even more ways to bypass protection in addition to it being rarer in the first place.
Second of all it would be pretty simple for the MM to use Foresight to find a Butler, Convert him, and then use the Butler to trigger stand in.
Manipulate is limited because the Magistrate would be pointless if his target was completely meaningless.
Yes this means no convert cooldown.
So
Are you going to do this idea
Probably. I’d need to work out some kinks first. For example Manipulate might need to have less uses.
