Another thing is knowing when to push your reads or not as town. It’s a very fine line from being able to take a step-back and re-consider your reads and just being a pushover to other people.

A lot of people won’t have enough conviction in their reads imo.

(apart from a few people who just tunnel to shit, but they’re allowed to tunnel to shit everygame cuz too many people don’t push their own wagon)

It’s also important to understand that you do actually have to make other people listen to your reads as well as having good reads. There are three methodologies to this:

  • I’m right, so the wolves will definitely not just overpower my thread presence and people will suddenly realise my reads were always right!
  • I’M THE BEST WOLFREADER EVER FUCKERS, IF YOU DOUBT MY READS YOU ARE OBJECTIVELY BAD AT THIS GAME AS I READ WOLVES BASED ON AN ABSOLUTE MATHEMATICAL FORMULA
  • Use reasoned, well-thought arguments and attempt to rationally debate with other villagers to turn them to your perspective. Invite their own evaluations. Be forceful but only when needed.

Guess which one works.

Remember that you are mafia, not town
Aim to be an effective scum rather than a “consensus townie”. Your win condition is to kill townies, not to imitate your town game or to side with the town. At the end of the game, people usually hail the mafia players that were considered consensus town, while they should be hailing the mafia players that managed to survive while getting tons of dirt on their hands. There are no bonus points awarded for being “consensus town” when the game has ended. If everyone in the graveyard is calling you an obvious scum, then great - that is why they are there.
