o be fair, you have to have no gf to understand Weezer. The lyrics are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of being single most of the lyrics will go over a typical listener’s head. There’s also my lonely outlook on life, which is deftly woven into our music - my lyrical themes draw heavily from Japanese culture, for instance. The fans understand this stuff, they have no gf so they truly appreciate the depth of these songs, they realize they’re not just catchy- they say something deep about HAVING NO GF. As a consequence people who dislike Weezer truly ARE in happy relationships- of course they would appreciate, for instance, the beauty in my deep, insightful catchphrase “Goddamn you half-Japanese girls” which itself is a cryptic refrence to Puccini’s classic opera, Madama Butterfly. I’m smirking right now just imagining people who have gotten laid scratching their heads in confusion as my genius unfolds

like imo to me it sounded like preemptively soft-defending pkr knowing he’d flip town, and then when called out for it not committing one way or the other
