Chloe when you say “blowing something out of proportions” it has a something

If, for example, I pretended a small scratch on my arm was searing pain, I would be blowing the extent of my pain out of proportions.

I’m nitpicking wording but you chose the words, so tell me the ‘thing’ i was blowing out of proportions. This doesn’t answer it.
