It is possible and there have already been several of them: DN hack (uploading personal images instead of drawing), name hack (uploading a huge text as a nickname), chat hack (spamming messages without being auto-muted by the system). There are topics on the forum where people were banned for using those, as it was considered as hacking.

What happened:
I got banned for hacking the game to put a PNG as my deathnote

What was SUPPOSED to happen:
i was supposde to not get banned because i have never even looked at the game files outside of my steam library

Steps to resolve this issue:

1. go to my username “JukeBox”
2. see that I am banned for this thing i didn’t do
3. un-ban me
4. ???
5. Profit

Appears to be a very specific vulnerability exploit by redirecting network packets. Not a hack since they aren’t injecting code or messing with our code, but a network exploit (by swapping out network packets or redirecting them to their own server).

The guy should probably be working at NASA, but instead is trolling people on a $9 indie game

We’re in the process of patching it now. We may have even caught who was doing this (let’s wait and see – the vulnerability was very specific, so they are unlikely to get past ban evasion detection).
