yeah, it was most likely a self-defense weapon since it look like it came from one of the drawer leg.
We know that the weapon (likely) was what caused the bloodied bump.
It’d be hard to explain a death via just splinters.
Let answer why GGhana got splinter around his arm because a bump can mean a lot of different things.
Heres my theory so far.
The culprit and GGhana was fighting at the door. GGhana was unprepared and had no weapon, so when the killer broke in, GGhana rushed to the drawer to take out the long stick and attempt to fight the killer.
As for the rest, I won’t know unless App tells me where the cabinet is.

We don’t know why, but we do what the killer know which was GGhana would spend the entire day on his dorm and he was gonna fight anyone who broke into his dorm.
Knowing that it was likely a premeditated murder.
