Herbalist Defile Error

What happened?

I wanted to defile the dying target. System message appears “There was an error setting your ability. Please notify a developer.”
Dead Target was not defiled.

What was SUPPOSED to happen? Target had to be defiled.

I got this yesterday as a knight when I tried to cold steel the MM. Wierd.
