How To Make Mental Blur Useful

I know I’ve made a couple threads like this in the past, but I haven’t yet given up :stuck_out_tongue:

Mental Blur (Night) - Erase the chat history of a player.

Mental Blur (Night) - Introduce a false memory into everyone’s consciousness, trollboxing a past message. (2 uses)

It’s exactly the same as trollbox, except the trollbox message does not appear as the most recent message in chat. It appears instead at a point chosen by the Illusionist.

Mental Blur (Night) - Target any Citizens in the game and give them a use of Icibalus’s Wet Dream (Infinite uses)

there we go, something that’s finally good and healthy for the game! :^)

I like Fool though so I disagree

Disable copy and pasting and also make your computer catch on fire, Deletes all files except TOL. And that’s the only way to make this Ability useful.
(Also delete your logs and chat)

Actually if it deleted logs, it would work great combined with Assassin’s nightkill and wouldn’t be too bad on its own in my opinion.

Can they actually disable copy and paste if your mental blurred. People will just copy and paste their logs

It is flavorful for it to delete logs, but I think it would be an overpowered mechanics as BD logs are important.

If we had logs getting deleted everywhere, it would lower the amount of daytime conversation and generally make the game less interactive and fun.

They can’t if they die the exact same night. That is why it actually would be a powerful ability.

All unseen abilities are quite powerful. Mind Warp and Mental Blur would be on the same power level like this in my opinion.

I still believe getting a BD hung then the sheriff potentially executed is still better then Mental blur

(Totally didn’t misspell that)

How would this be useful? Another change would be changing it to a day ability. This would help with the whisper meta.

Private logs do exist.

What do you mean?

You know the logs that are hidden and not shown upon death.

It’s stupid that you have two area for logs lul

Yes, I’m aware of them, but not sure how they fit into the Mental Blur discussion.

If you’re writing your entire will only into your private logs, then you are Mind Blurring yourself every game.

Private logs would be a counter to deleting logs

I’m assuming that Mental Blur would be used in conjunction with an Assassin upon a player’s death, similar to that of Herbalist. Are you thinking of Mental Blur as just erasing a player’s logbook while they are still alive? Because then yes, that would be pointless.

It would be pointless similar to how everyone can copy paste their whole chat logs. It’s not pointless like that, but the ability to work together with Assassin makes it a great ability in my opinion. I think that’d fix Mental Blur perfectly without changing the essence of the skill.

Disable copy and paste and maybe put the computer on fire would be a good thing to add if you got mental blurred

Maybe it could destroy their journal and prevent them from writing in it

Cool idea. Mental Blur wouldn’t be flavorful though. It’d have to be an ability related to burning a book or stealing a journal or something along those lines. Or perhaps a magical ability that causes players unable to read or write? “Induce Dyslexia”?
