pauses music
Huh?
I saw you grabbing something, what is it?
holds up the necklace
Y: Thatās a nice necklaceā¦
Iām not much for jewelry, but it does look pretty cool.
Mhmm
puts it away again
Y: So what are you all going to do after this?
shrugs
I need to do as much as I can to win the regional swim meet coming up, so Iāll be practicing.
Girl#1: Did you see the amount of new clubs this year?
Girl#2: Crazy, right? I think the student councilās a bit too lax on the club rule.
Girl#1: Who cares. We can just make our own club and get a room for our own!
Girl#2: Good idea. We should ask Nanako to join-
They continue to chat.
Y: Huh. Well Iām going to help with gardening club
She yawns.
Y: After this ends.
I donāt really have time to join clubs, I have to be the best swimmer in the country. Maybe even the world!
rolls eyes
Y: Just start already!
The speaker is late. Mr.Takagawa steps onto the stage. His hands are shaking, while his eyes are glued to the script on his hand. Everyone is still busy chattering. He reaches again for the mike, and with a shaky voice, he started.
āG-good morning, e-everyone. The speaker from the police department hasnāt arrived yet, s-so if you can-ā
The microphone suddenly goes off. His voice isnāt heard anymore. The students just get noisier. Some of the boys at the back laugh aloud at something.
āEveryone! I-if you can please be silentā¦ā He raises his voice, but it isnāt even heard by those on the first row.
Y: This.Is.So.Lame.
Yoko looks around for something of interest.
Realising no one is listening, he looks exasperated.
āHey! Shut your traps and listen up!ā
Mr Johnsā voice breaks through the hall, every student feeling the burn.
āFirst, I have an announcement. As you all know, Mr Jenkins, our Discipline Master has been appointed to another school. I, Mr Johns will be your new Discipline Master. Nowā¦ā
He smiles smugly, crossing his arms. You notice his unkempt hair has been made short, to the point of that they can be called prickles.
āCongratulate me.ā
Some of the students, break into laughter, notably the year 3 students. Others stayed silent.
āJokes over. Now we have all come to our safety seminar. Our school has been creating law-abiding students, that excel in every part of their lives. I want you to listen carefully to Mr. Takagawa. Anyone who doesnāt listen, will face my special punishment.ā
Ah, the Year 3 students know of this special punishment. A hellish regimen of physical training, lasting from the gym to the sports hall. Oh dear.
Yoko has lost focus on Mr Johns , and is instead is now looking at some sort of poster.
Aoi sits up straight wanting to look good for Mr. Johns
