Edge of the empire
You are lucky because it is the clan with the most families.
Here are how things goes:
- The Hida are living battle tanks. Heavy infantry. They are trained to fucking metal the demon stuff down.
- The Hiruma are runners and scouts. They are also expected to know how to fight demon stuff, but they are more exploring than the Hida. They also can be bodyguards for the Yasuki.
- The Yasuki are merchants. And smugglers. They need to make a living for an entire war machine working 24/h.
- The Kuni are investigators. They study their enemy and are shugenja or monks. They are also more likely to hunt people marked by the Shadowlands taint.
- The Kaiu are Engineers, Smiths and Battlemasters. They are the support roles the wall needs to keep working.
Cool.
Iāll think about that.
can i rp as this
The Lying Darkness
In Rokugan, name and history is everything. A samurai is defined by their family and clan. Their deeds only matter in the context of how they effect those ideals. The Lying Darkness strips all that away, leaving the samurai with nothing.
Neutral Killer
āSeven Thunders entered the Shadowlands. One returned.āNamed, not Tamed (Passive) - At the start of the game, it will be publicly informed that āAkodo is watching your every step, from all clans alikeā.
Faceless (Passive) - To all checks made unto you from members of the Empire, you will appear as Shiba Kieru (Empire, Phoenix, Shiba, Bushi). To all checks made unto you from members of the Shadowlands, you will appear as Daigotsu Toshiro (Shadowlands, Spider, Daigotsu, Bushi).
Shadow Corruption (Passive) - You know the effects of the Shadow Corruption, who is Shadow Corrupted and the degree of Shadow Corruption they possess at all times. The Shadow Corruption has three degrees. If someone already has the Shadow Corruption, they will gain a new degree every time an even day starts.
In the first degree, nothing happens. In the second degree, all abilities and passives they have will be disabled. In the third degree, they will die, their flip will be cleaned, and they will be prevented from joining the Dead Chat. You will know what was their Faction, Clan, Family and Path.
Aditionally, you are immune to the Shadow Corruption. Finally, if someone claims at least one of the following: Ability, Family, Clan, Flavor, Path; they will be Corrupted automatically.
The only people informed of being Corrupted are the ones who start the game Corrupted.Dangerous Deal (Day) - Make an offer to a player. āDarkness wants to embrace you. If you accept, you will be [effect]. Be careful, though, that dealing with the Nothing is dangerous business. You have 24 hours to decide if you accept it or not. Do you accept?ā
The following effects are disponible. Choose one to offer:
- Immune to attacks tonight
- Cleaned from all Bleeding
- Given an alignment peek
- Given a gun
- Aware from all feedback on you for the remainder of the day.
- Shown as an Empire member to all checks tonight.
You will know whether they accepted, refused or did not answer to the request. If they accept, they will gain the benefit and one degree of the Shadow Corruption. If they refuse, they will not gain the benefit and the Shadow Corruption. If they donāt answer, they will not gain the benefit and will gain one degree of the Shadow Corruption.
If someone already has a degree of Corruption, you may give them more than one benefit in any subsequent Dangerous Deals. You canāt target anyone who is immune to the Corruption with this ability.Direct Elimination (Night) - Select a player to kill. You can choose between one of the following effects: You canāt be seen by any trackers or watchers tonight, you will be bulletproof tonight, you canāt be roleblocked or redirectioned tonight, the target of the kill canāt be healed or protected tonight.
If they have claimed their family or flavor, you can choose two effects instead of one.Win Conditions: Only one of those need to be completed.
- All players are dead.
- All players but you are dead.
- All alive players possess the Shadow Corruption.
- All alive players but you possess the Shadow Corruption.
- Half of the game (rounded up) has claimed at least one of the following: Ability, Family, Clan, Flavor, Path.
When you win, everyone else loses, regardless if they have already completed their win condition. The game wonāt end if you are still alive. You can win even if you are dead.
No but you can buy this:
Forbidden Knowledge [Mental] (5 Points) [CR]
There is a subject about which you possess considerable knowledge and insight. The problem is that his subject is forbidden, and considered grossly socially inappropriate if not outright illegal. Anyone who discovers your expertise in this area might rightly wonder how you came upon it. The benefits of the Advantage vary depending upon the nature of the information, and players should discuss with their GM how this Advantage will work. The most common examples of Forbidden Knowledge include:
Gaijin Pepper: You possess firsthand knowledge of gunpowder, both how to create it and how to use it. You gain one rank in Craft: Explosives, and possess a small pouch of gaijin pepper that you may carry with you if you so choose.
Gozoku: You possess an intricate knowledge of the Gozoku onspiracy against the throne, either in its first or second incarnation, and may in fact be a member of that organization. You gain one rank in Lore: Gozoku and gain a bonus on +1k1 on Social Skill rolls with known members of the Gozoku.
Kolat: You are intimately familiar with the nature and operations of the blasphemous Kolat order, and may be a member of that organization. You gain one rank in Lore: Kolat and gain a bonus of +1k1 on Social Skill rolls with known members of the Kolat.
Lying Darkness: You are familiar with the entity known as the Lying Darkness, its methods, and its minions. You may have come into conflict with it in the past, and perhaps it hunts you still. You gain one rank of Lore: Lying Darkness, and you may observe an individual and make a Lore: Lying Darkness / Perception Roll (TN 30) to determine if he has been corrupted by the Lying Darkness.
Maho: You are familiar with the forbidden and blasphemous magic known as maho, and may in fact be a practicing maho-tsukai (black sorcerer) yourself. You gain 1 rank in Lore: Maho and, at the GMās discretion, you might begin play knowing a maho spell.
I would seriously recommend against starting the game shadow corrupted because the Lying Darkness is fucking brutal
But forbidden knowledge is okay
that sign canāt stop me because i canāt read!
in war only the weapon sellers prosper i guess xD
are they the richest family?
btw which family is the engineer or crafting family again?
what happens if youāre born into a family or whatever but absolutely suck ass at whatever it is
Yes, they are possibly the richest family with the exception of the Emperor. Other strong candidates are the Ide and the Doji.
Ide make money by commerce of exotic goods. Doji make money by full fleshed out feudalism. They have a lot of land.
Depends on what your parents and sensei want
Usually they sent you to another clan dojo that fits you better if they detect early you suck and your parents want to.remove. you
Itās all ok to be a Hida and study at the Asako Loremaster school too but you need to buy a rather expensive advantage to study outside your clan
call me passively interested
this but irl
Some people asked for a character sheet. Although there is a PDF, this is the empty text form:
