Buy a treadmill for your doggos.
at least your city is warm because of the weather, rather than warm because it’s on fire
Soon
also please stay safe ily
thankfully I’m on the Saint Paul side of the river and I don’t plan to change that
Wait, what’s happening?
Stay safe Arete.
there was another police brutality incident in my city
and now people are responding by protesting and lighting buildings on fire (to be clear I’m not equivocating between the two, just, the sentence feels more accurate this way)
(where by ‘my city’ I mean ‘Minneapolis’ even though I live in Saint Paul)
I remember how crazy shit was here after the Stephon Clark incident
We didn’t have that much looting and fire but there were a LOT LOT LOT of protests and riots
So please stay safe ily
Shit is scary
Ah yes, let’s respond to brutality by lighting random buildings on fire?!?
I’ll be honest the mere concept sounds borderline unbelievable to me because we just… don’t have people ‘looting’ or setting buildings on fire or anything.
I can’t imagine if people protested like this here.
“Hey so instead of going on strike for higher loans we decided to just light our buildings on fire.”
Yep, when I hear ‘protests’ my mind goes to usual protests – people gathering with signs and acting more or less civil.
Not looting the stores, like what.
Its rather unbelievable to me as well
Everything here was mostly peaceful during the Stephon Clark protests
However, there was a group of hundreds of people who stood on and blocked traffic on I-5 during rush hour
to be fair they’re protesting the police killing unarmed people, not interest rates
but
empirically ‘light a bunch of restaurants on fire, smash the windows of the local library, and loot schools’ doesn’t stop the police from killing unarmed people?? it just means that you have fewer restaurants and libraries and schools?
Excuse me what.
I mean there are also people doing normal protests
but
