i mean just going by general highschool consensus freshmen vs not freshmen is generally the line between ‘dear god how are we in the same generation that is so cringy’ and ‘i mean i disagree with you but meh’
aka the middling point between intelligent thought and degeneracy
i think 90% of the time we play together i am the highest one on the scoreboard
90% might actually be a low estimate

at my school ‘which individual cohort are you in’ was generally viewed as way more relevant to that than ‘which grade is the cohort you’re in a part of this year’
but maybe that was the product of being a small school, meaning that individual grades tended to take on fairly consistent characters? but for instance the class of 2019 kind of sucked and that was true whether they were in seventh grade or eleventh
well yeah specific grades have notions associated with them. in particular this years freshmen were known to be bad from middleschool coming in.
as well, cliques play into it. there are two freshmen in choir with me (its the auditioned choir, we normally dont accept freshmen but without them we’d have literally 1 tenor) and people seem to think they’re pretty chill. i dont personally have that much of an opinion on the subject so im sourcing things from other people
