Don’t worry Vool, I’ll carry you!

In a game I’ve never even played and am probably not going to buy.

i want the long answer because for some reason i feel like reading an anstreim rant about Demon Hunter would be cathartic

Bookmark it and set a reminder.

I’m very much capable of producing a wallpost ranting about the class that sucked away all the identity of Demonoly warlocks, was a reason for multiple exploits, bugs and nerfs and has absolutely absurd utility but I will spare you and the forums from reading that.
Its for the best.

I’m not a fan of flaunting it in public but I’ll tell Chloe to give it to you.

the extent of my knowledge about dh abilities is that their tank version has higher healing done in mythics than our healer, they have an ability called eye beam, and they have d o u b l e j u m p and wings and can glide

Vulgod don’t enable me.
Not only DHs have a basically permanent cleave on all their abilities (and its the best cleave there is), they have insane:

  • Mobility (Fel rush, double jump, glide, disengage or whatever that thing is);
  • Defensives (Blur, Darkness);
  • Beneficial group effects (Darkness would technically go here but it also includes mass stun);
  • Insane tanking capabilities/utility (Mass silence, mass grip, another stun);
  • Absolutely obscene CDs;
  • Completely disgusting PvP talents (Mana break and mana burn, which should be removed from the game btw).

And on top of all of this, the rotation is so simple that Marshal could probably top DPS meters if he was given a 470 ilvl DH to play, despite having no experience with WoW.

Oh I also forgot to mention Imprison for utility, which is on par with Sap for being one of the most OP CC effects in the game.

OUCH
okay that does sound like a lot
let me see
ww monk:

mobility (roll, flying serpent kick, tiger’s lust which is a talent)
defensives (touch of karma which is really fucking good, fortifying brew is a PVP talent)
beneficial group effects (…rising sun kick reduces healing effectiveness on the target, all monk abilities and attacks reduce the target’s armor by 10%… are these considered group effects? also leg sweep is an AoE stun for 5 seconds on a 1 minute cooldown, i guess that’s the only active ability which is pure utility)
insane utility (…not really. aoe stun and that’s mostly it. can res though)
disgusting pvp talents (i can only think of one and that’s the fists of fury talent which makes you parry everything and deals full damage to all targets, slowing them by 90%)

yeah doesn’t really compare

also rotation includes the management of 2 resources which isn’t all that difficult but can be troublesome to get used to

On disgusting pvp talents, you guys have Touch of Death which can oneshot players from… I want to say 40% hp? But you can play around it. DH just eats casters for breakfast and like warriors, its impossible to get away from them.
WW is actually pretty good all around though, both in PvP and in PvE. But its harder to play optimally and harder to play perfectly.
Also when I talked about group utility I meant group-wide effects, because Darkness is a group-wide CD.
A good example of this would be Warlock’s Soulwell (even though its not really active) or Warrior’s Battle Shout.
