Because Alice/Maxi/Mist/Leafia is a possibility. They can fake a check on a fellow town too to gain their trust and if Ici would flip it would also give a lot of credit to Alice. Now that I’m saying this, I can see that to be a lot less likely of a scenario however, so thanks for that.

Marshal, think about it for a second and the idea that N, in a room with 7 villagers, near-guarentees his own death, fully aware that if he fails, he dies and clears 7 villagers. Does he make that play?

I don’t think N would think about it that hard in a spur of the moment event. He was on the chopping block and wanted to take down as many with him as he could. That’d be my take.

“as many of them as he could”, not everyone. Even on the spur of the moment, N would never think the deaths of all of them are guarenteed. Look how the event actually turned out. It’s a shitty reason to clear Apprentice.
